WarCom Article.

Pretty much as stated in the title; a new Warhammer World site is scheduled to open in the USA in 2027, located "just outside Washington DC." Third-party websites and their owners are free to grumble about this short, concise summary that doesn't push people into reading ad-ridden and opinionated articles.

I'd be genuinely surprised if they expanded production / manufacturing to the USA at this stage. It's far too volatile a market on that front, and the last experiment with that in the late 90s / early 2000s resulted in managers going rogue and over-producing low selling items that just cluttered up the warehouses.

I'm happy to have a WH World closer to home, but it'll be a few years before I feel like it's safe to visit the US.

If it had been there in 2023 or 2024 I wouldn't have hesitated to visit.

Not super crazy about the location,  I would've picked Chicago or somewhere more central

But still, it'll be cool have something like this in the States

As long as it doesn't detract from the 'real' WHW and GW doesn't forget where they came from. I really don't want Warhammer to become overly 'Americanised'. Nothing against America, from my experience they are a lovely people, just it is nice to have a bit of choice.

Sounds exciting for American fraters, at least assuming it's in an easily reachable and pleasant- or at least safe- area, which from what my American wife tells me is not guaranteed. Still, here's hoping!

Northern VA/Maryland is about as gentrified as you can get. Sounds like they are not building it within the limits of DC itself, so it will be fine for safety. And no doubt they will build it nice.

Now, "easily reachable?" Well, traffic in that part of the country is insane. If people want "easy," they should take the train to visit. If they want to have an aneurysm before they arrive, then they can try and get there by car.

I think this is great for US fans, and I can't wait to see what the come up with, and the American version Bugmans etc.

Hopefully there'll be a giant gaming hall, huge shop and no doubt something Space Marine themed parked outside.

Washington DC is on the list of places to visit if I go back to the USA, so this might be a nice detour

Ultimately, Warhammer World is just a bigger-than-usual retail store with more display cabinets, more gaming tables and on-site catering.

Having another one on the other side of the Atlantic is not going to affect the operation of the company in any way.

I hope that it doesn't undermine the Nottingham Warhammer World and instead take over as the big warhammer destination, effectively making Nottingham's second best.

If it's a bigger better location and the current one is no longer seen as the premier Warhammer location, then that would sort of feel like losing a pretty big iconic aspect of Warhammer and what made it what it is now.

I can't see that happening to be honest, especially for anyone in the UK.

Agreed.

Honestly, this just feels like the reaction to all the countless comments over the last however long of "I'd love to visit Warhammer World but I can't/won't fly to the UK." I think they tested the waters with the Citadel in Texas and after that proved successful (I'm assuming, but that was very much Warhammer World lite), they're going to open a full thing.

Why do you think not? Obviously for anyone in the UK it's still going to be the big place, but if there's another location that does what it does but even bigger and better then that seems like it would possibly overshadow it and Warhammer World Nottingham might no longer be considered as it is at the moment. The article makes no mention of manufacturing so there's that, at least.

Yeesh, GW is aiming to get bought out and taken over by a US company, most likely Amazon or linked, I'm certain of it.

Setting up a Warhammer World somewhere other than their original base? It's not going to attract customers except in the local area after all.

The whole feel of the mainline games of AoS and 40K seems... sanitised. Like World of Warcraft. Very much something Amazon would want to sell right?

Ah it all feels bleak to me.

Finally! It’s high time a red-blooded American hobby like Warhammer returns home to America. Crazy they built one in the Robin Hood town, who even lives there? King John!?

I get where you're coming from, but I guess it's best to wait and see.

Edit: At least Warhammer World exclusive items will be more affordable to Fraters on the other side of the Atlantic.

Exciting news! Of course it's all the way across the country ... But still. It'll be fun to watch this come together.

Like a lot of other people here, I really hope this doesn't end up overshadowing WW UK. I'm a US citizen and all, but some of the fun of Warhammer is that it's not something that came straight outta Hollywood, y'know? That image is worth preserving.

Anyway yeah. Sounds cool. Might have to visit someday.

Now we need one in Tokyo, Canberra and Cairo to complete the secret intercontinental scheme by GW to rule the world!

Tokyo Warhammer World would be nuts. Like something out of the future. The Tokyo Shop terrain looks professionally built.

If they were doing that, they would set up somewhere in Texas or another location with more people/better businesses. DC seems to have outsized importance in some people's minds because of the politics.

In reality, there are many cities in the US that are larger, easier to get to (the East Coast of the US is a long way from other parts of the country) and with better business climates than Virginia/Maryland/DC.

My guess is the location choice has a lot to do with the fact that there have been large GW stores in that area for more than 30 years, so they already have an established presence.

How can you infer anything like that from this announcement is beyond me...
