So with the launch of Saturnine I decided to break away from my Blood Angels and start a new legion, Iron Warriors. And why not start BIG! With a repaint of an OG Baneblade. I practiced on the rhino and home made whirlwind launcher (you can see the metal difference in the launcher, didnt like it ) then I painted the Baneblade. I bought the Baneblade way back in the day when it first released and it has been sitting around painted green and black camo (Catachan scheme) for several decades. I am keeping my Iron Warriors paint scheme simple and relatively quick. Only thing I want to do to these tanks is add pigments to the tracks but I am waiting on an order of some AK liquid pigments to try out.

On the painting table is the 40 marines from the Saturnine box. They are built and airbrushed metal.

I will try and get a step by step of the paint scheme as I paint my first batch of infantry.

Looking good. I think the pigment on the tracks will make a big difference and elevate the scheme a lot further.

Letus know how the liquid pigments go. I haven't tried them but I am intrigued.

Very nice, you can't really go wrong by starting with a Baneblade and I think the Saturnine box is a good starter set too. I like your scheme and the rustic/weathered look.

I have looked at coloured pigments myself but never used so will see how you get on with yours.

Iron Within!

Love the converted whirlwind using the old-school HKMs. Looks like an old dozer blade fitting underneath, attached to... is that a lego hinge brick?! Either way, looks suitably brutal for the Iron Warriors!

Yes, it is a leggo hinge brick and I think the struts on the bottom are from the old dozer blade.  The missile launcher conversion is easily 25+ years old. It fits into the razorback hole using a slightly oversized circle of cardboard. . .its had a good snug fit for those 25+ years despite being removed often.

This will also be my first liquid pigment use. Supposedly they dont make as much of a mess and stay attached better.
