What are your best Warhammer memories?

Mine revolves around being the kid who started the Warhammer club in my school. GW staff came down and gave us so much stuff. Boxsets for everything, paint sets, battle tables. All sorts.

Then we got to go to Warhammer World with them for the open day too, which was awesome.

The club was on Wednesdays.. and after we finished there, me and the boys would all go back to mine and pile into the attic (my Dad converted it into a gaming room complete with a 6x4 table) and we’d have a huge battle on there until it got dark and everyone had to go home haha.

Those were the days.

For me, personally, nothing beats the days when I was a kid and was discovering the hobby and the setting for the 1st time.

Back in those days the internet wasn't what it is now, and there weren't organised online communities like today. Everything came to me in bits via magazines, articles, hushes conversations in games workshop stores.
The first time I ever heard of certain characters was when I saw them being painted in the store, and really had to use my imagination when looking at small, metal models in their small, plastic packaging with no box art.

It felt like a boutique experience, back in those days. Good times.

Best memories was as a teenager on my trips into the Edinburgh store. Always a great atmosphere, something going on regularly, took part in events, and the staff were awesome, friendly, and genuinely felt that they were enjoying themselves (not that I'm saying the staff now aren't, but the times they have a changed!).

Also, because it was a time before the internet it was the place to buy our stuff, and much like a lot of looking back, it all felt so much more "fun".

Our Warhammer club at university. Meeting up once a week, playing, but also doing little "working bees" where we built and painted terrain and gaming tables.

We even had events on weekends and going on tournaments was also great.

I made some great friends which I kept to this day (sadly on another continent, but luckily, we have the internet).

It was just a great place for all the weird (in a good way!) nerds to meet up and have fun together.

Very fond memories.

A tournament in GW Bilbao,in previous location of the shop, around 20 years ago. Damn, that's lot of time ago! Another time, another place and another me.

My late ex girlfriend was with me,and I spent a fantastic time with some of the most awesome people I have ever meet. I was playing a Black Legion army and ended 3rd in that tournament.

I miss that time ,and those people.

One of my best warhammer memories.

Fixing a mistake

Mine would be the yearly narrative tournaments that Play On hosts at Gamescon. They're always a blast and everyone there is super chill and a joy to hang out with. Lots of fun fluffy narrative stuff with everyone having a great time. I look forward to it all year.

Some game snippets from my first year:

- As Gabriel Seth was overrun by my Kroot horde (taking down a unit of Rampagers with 17 attacks before going) an orbital strike was redirected to his position and he took even more with him.

- I was fighting in an orbital platform and using the gun to shoot at a Tyranid player on the planet below, so his Harridan flew up into space and started ripping the whole board apart, taking out about 1/3rd of my army in the process.

-  Had to try and hold off a Space Wolf attack while rooting around in the undercity trying to purge a genestealer cult infestation.

- Got to see Ka'Bandha materialize in the middle of a Necron army routing a Blood Angels force and 1v1 a C'Tan because "Nobody kills Blood Angels but Ka'Bandha!"

Some from my second:
- Got to play a 3k army as part of an Apoc game with my Kroot and was across the table from the Blood Ravens. It was like Dawn of War on the Tabletop.

- My Kroot got to strike a narrative alliance with a surprisingly cordial Necron Overlord who helped us exterminate the Tyranids in exchange for searching the planet for their lost/malfunctioning scarabs.

- Nearly Tabled a Blood Angels player, but could not for the life if me Kill Commander Dante, threw everything I had at him for two turns and he shrugged it all off, the only model left and not a single wound. He managed to complete a few narrative objectives and make it a close game with a very Dante result.
- Played a game vs a Kreig player over a set of train tracks that had large moving trains zip through the battlefield while we were fighting.
