I don’t get the Skyreavers. They seem to be very mediocre. Everything else looks interesting to good though.

They are a jump melee unit which the Eldar don't actually have at the moment with Hawks and Spiders being primarily shooty. They actually hit almost as hard as Assault Marines (albeit a lot more fragile). It will come down to points but I can see them being useful for harassing backfield Objective campers and the like. They are not a frontline assault unit but they have just enough shooting and melee strength to inconvenience a variety of targets.

The Starfang on the other hand looks very good. An average of 5 MEQ-killing shots per turn and the ability to give nearby units Stealth seems like a pretty tidy package. Again, points will be the decider.

Ummm what happened to the raiding hook or whatever it’s called? They mentioned it in the stream and it’s clearly visible in pictures.

Starfang looks ideal for dealing with gravis units. Especially if there’s any method of getting it +1 to wound or S in its shooting

Hmm.. instead of making up my own profile for them, I think Im going to use the Starfang datasheet as count-as for my Mindstealer sphiranxes for my Ynnari army. Then there is no confusion when building the vyper with the more corsairish elements as well.

Apart from that, the non-exclusiveness makes them useful in multiple non-corsair armylists as well I think ? Ynnari, Wraith construct, Aspect warriors based armies as well as an extra in Drukhari armies even when not having any other corsairs ( though while typing I realise Stealth is just -1 to hit.. not that they cant be targetted by units with shooting unless they are close, that would probably have been OP if you can give it to any Aeldari infantry within such a distance.)

Whats most funny, is that right now you can take Yriel alongside any Drukhari, including the likes of Drazhar and Haemonculi covens... he is fine working with them, but draws the line with the person who revived him when he died because they did nothing for Iyanden since then ( but Drazhar and Mandrakes did ?)... no complaint, its just incredibly hilarious how GW sometimes makes weird lore-tabletop combinations :)
There will likely be a FAQ there anyway eventually disallowing Anrathe epic heroes in drukhari, as I think Lady Malys+Prince Yriel gives quite a lot of redployment. ( dont know how strong that would be.)

Curious about the detachment(s)

Simply stack with Kharseth's Fury of the Void for +1S.

Kharseth looks like an interesting utility piece. Stack with massed shurican fire to make a mess of targets and 12" bubble of Deep Strike denial will help keep your backfield safe.

Some how I missed that rule completely lol.

So yeah, that combo has the starfang wounding gravis on 3+, AP-3 means most hits will convert, and you’ll likely be getting at least 3 hits, so I’d expect 1 dead gravis marine per shooting at minimum.

Best new unit for killing Gravis is definitely Yriel in melee. With A5 S7 AP-3 and 3D he will normally kill about 3 Gravis Marines by himself (possibly a bit higher if he is leading a unit and getting Sustained Hits 1). Of course delivery is a bit more challenging.

Yeah his main problem is not being able to attach to capable melee units. I 100% see someone just taking him in a 5 man squad of some kind but they'd just be ablative wounds for him.

They also might hit JUST hard enough by themselves that you can take the 10 man unit with maxed out Heavy Weapons and not worry about losing melee capability. Overall with these rules I think Corsair lovers are gonna have a great time, but the lack of good firing deck transports hurts.

FW Corsairs had access to Venoms iirc, perhaps the rumoured 11th edition Drukhari refresh will include a revamped Venom with alternative Corsair crew and shuriken weaponry (seems they have no access to splinter weaponry currently despite using blasters, shredders, and now disintegrator cannon).

I'd want access to Raiders. 10 Weavers and Scarred in Raiders would be REALLY good (and less of a pain to roll for weapons vs Kalabites).

Raiders just feel quite thematic for Corsairs too. I want the boats!

All datasheet and points are now live, inc the upgraded Vyper

Interestingly enough, Yriel still exists as a Legendary datasheet too...

Honestly, this is gonna be wicked fun.

The new stuff seems well-costed, and though I kinda wish the skyreavers had a bit more spice on the datasheet it seems like they can get a whole lot better in the detachments...  But mostly I just cannot WAIT to use Ruthless Killers for damage 2 power-swords, or even exotic ammunition shuriken rifles lol.

Anyway - Looking at this for a 2k once I've painted up the new box:

Yriel

Kharseth

Autarch

Jain Zar

10 Voidscarred - shuriken - exotic munitions [Kharseth]

10 Voidscarred - power-weapons - Alacritous assault [Yriel]

5 Dark Reapers

5 Fire Dragons [Autarch]

5 Howling Banshees [Jain]

5 Rangers

2x Falcon [Banshee/Dragons]

2x3 Shining Spears

10 Skyreavers - Adrenal Infusions (last few points remaining - why not?)

1 Vyper

3 Windriders

3 Shroudrunners

Cheers,

The Good Doctor.

Who knows, maybe once we get the stats for the raiding hook they’ll  be a bit more spicy.

They look like fun detachments, but I see that annoyingly they don't have the same section as the Ynnari (i.e. ignore faction keyword restrictions), so we can't take some Drukhari units in our Corsair armies.  That's a shame, as I really wanted to lean into the pirates theme and take vehicles like the Ravager and Raider, as well as some Reavers, and maybe have a converted Archon as my Pirate Captain.

I hope/suspect there will be an "other" eldar codex in 11th and you might get more of that in there.

I have mixed feelings. I agree that including some DE units would be very cool but I find the Ynnari way of doing it horribly clunky and convoluted.

Agreed.  I'd like it if, as @Mogger351 said above, there was a Codex or something that essentially refined and recreated the old Doom of Mymeara Corsair units for the modern times, with some alterations and expansions (the old Corsairs had a lot of standard Eldar vehicles, not many DE vehicles - I'd like to see that changed).

Surely current GW (particularly with their custom characters stuff coming out) could say, "here's some rules for some units, and here's the kits we recommend to model them"?  Now they're advising you which kits to buy to recreate the datasheet, and they don't have to make custom Corsairs sprues.  Or they could make a Corsair upgrade sprue (similar to the old FW Corsair upgrade kit) that has a load of the usual guff (heads, weapons, other bits) that would allow you to make the existing kit (Guardians, Kabalites, Wyches, Rangers, etc.) more Corsairs-themed to go with the datasheets.  Either way, they win because you're still buying more kits and probably lots of different kits to get the weapon combos you actually want.

As for the Ynnari, well, they could do with a whole remake to make them more interesting, but that's a different conversation!
