I know the Tantalus has been around forever, by current standards, but I have to agree.  I think if one magically came out today, I'd drop the keel-mounted knife things (they could be some sort of anti-grav?) for a pair of big guns (like you'd get on a Wraithknight), or just have nothing there at all.  In the same way, if I were to create a Corsairs army and get some Reavers, I'd leave off the knife blade in front of the engine grille and paint the wing blades so they looked like ailerons rather than knives.

Yeah a pair of underslung bright lances, and a bow mounted star cannon and either a shuriken cannon or scatter laser on either side would be a nice bit of armament.

The Pulse Disintegrators are already pretty tasty. Its an assault vehicle (mw's on the charge and not bad in melee) not a gunship.

An assault vehicle without guns to support the assaulting infantry and fight its way to the assault point is pretty useless as an assault vehicle. A good assault vehicle is an IFV, not an APC.

Out the gates it's neither, it's a fast moving platform more akin to a naval vessel, notably an old one. It's designed to get there fast, soften things with it and it's passengers lending fire, then ram something for the crew to disembark onto the target in essence.

 

Beyond that are 12 bs 3+ S10 AP-2 d2 shots not enough to count as supporting its crew?

I love the psyker and the vyper is … ok. Not quite sure what I expected from it but yeah it does the job. I have an old one unbuilt and I can’t say the new one is enough to make me get one instead. 
 

Not sure at all about the flying guys. They seem a bit like they came out of someone’s bits box.
