Well, I guess we finally know for good. Its Iron Warriors time. Excited to see Perty 40k model soon.

I'm predicting that pert's gonna be a demon, perhaps to some personal chagrin. I noticed the part on the far right of the claw image, and the hooved/bi-toed foot. The foot seems too small to be the size of a primarch's, I think at least.

Looks like an obliterator foot so probably their kin, the mutilators, are back!

Ah, yeah, thats probably true. I'm honestly not super versed in the modern kits as I enjoy the 30k more.

Really hoping we see more soon and there is some IW specific stuff (it could be new CSM kits in IW colours).

 

They will make fantastic decorations for the bases of my Imperial Fists.

I'm very excited to see all of these, particularly the Defiler. It deserves an update worthy of the first plastic daemon engine.

 

I'm also very intrigued about these two.

 

 

The barely visible shoulder pads(?) are not what you usually see on a marine. Kinda look too big for a regular marine at all. But from the one look at what I can only assume is a Mutilator's arm, the shoulder pad on that one is more rounded and slanted.

 

Sooooo... what is it? Does the Defiler now have shoulder pads and shoulder mounted tools? Does the upgrade sprue go crazier than rumoured? Or are we looking at a character? They do have a cataphractii-esque feel to them.

 

I guess it could be that Mutilators have a rather varied look to them, but I think they've shown two teasers for each kit. The hammer and round shoulder pad for the upgrade kit, the exhaust pipes and claw for the Defiler, the arm and leg for the Mutilators, and these two shoulder mounts for a character.

 

Edit. Just watched the video teaser and yup, that's cataphractii-looking.

Assuming it's not Pert, Cataphractii Warpsmith? Certain Techmarines could take Terminator armour during the Heresy, so would make sense.

Mutilator/Oblitorator dual kit, Defiler and an Iron Warriors upgrade sprue is the current rumour iirc

I disagree that it's a Defiler. The arm on the claw is way too small. More likely it's a venomcrawler dual kit unless the defiler is going to be drastically different...which is not something I look forward to. I just want a HD texture pack for the defiler, not a complete redesign.

I don't see a way around them reducing the footprint of the Defiler for modern 40k.  It's going to fit on a base and the base isn't going to be Knight sized.  The exhaust stack image also hints at it being more rounded, taking elements from the maulerfiend.

Because 2 rumormongers with consistent track records say different things ( obliterators- boole , Mutilators- valrak) some think it might be a dual kit there and the two just saw the same thing from a different perspective so to say.

Apologies, I was referencing the defiler. Afaik the defiler is just the defiler.

Plot twist: That big claw isn’t a defiler, it’s one of Perturabo’s chassis’ claws.. 

 

(also if you zoom in on the ‘defiler claw’ you can see a venom crawler style leg behind it)
