Rerolling wounds against monsters/vehicles makes the autocannon wounding the tougher vehicles on a 5+ seem more attractive especially with its flat 3 damage, and rerolling a 4+ or 3+ against light/medium vehicles seems really good.

while the 1 extra T seems situational if it’s useful or not (off top of my head only effects bolter and plasma cannon equivalents for shooting and space marine PF/TH equivalents for melee) that 2+ save seems like a very nice boost to durability.

Yup, autocannons are effective on armored sentinels for the reasons you mention. Depending on how I feel I run autocannons, lascannons, or plasma cannons on my armored sentinels. All have their uses. 

 

Hmm, I never noticed the armored sentinel had T8. I just assumed the armored variant had the same toughness as the scout variant. You just made my armored sentinels tougher. Thank you!

For monster/vehicle hunting? You’re looking at S7 AP-2 D1 standard or OC S8 AP-3 D2 

 

OCing I think might generally be better for getting wounds to stick, but one failed overcharge roll is very dangerous to a sentinel. On top of that D3 shots means you do have a very real chance of getting only one shot.
