Lathe Biosas
A couple questions. 1. I was was about to pick up the Black Templars upgrade box, but I wanted to know if the regular shoulderpads fit on Gravis Marines. 2. Do the Horus Heresy Shoulderpads fit on Primaris Marines? 3. How do you deal with adding chapter symbols to units like Eliminators and Captains that have cloaks that partially obscure the shoulders? 4. When you have push fit Marines like Infernus Marines, is there a simple way to chop off the shoulderpads? Solution Volgon Posted January 19 Solution Share Posted January 19 (edited) 1) Regular pads will not fit on Gravis or Bladeguard Marines; they have significantly larger shoulders. According to the GW webstore, that upgrade kit comes with 6x Gravis pads which will fit, but the Tacticus pads will not. If you can find some Terminator ones (ie: 3D printing) those will likely fit Gravis as well if you don't mind the slight style difference. 2) The new scale ones do, the scale will be slightly off but they fit. 3) You can (a) not bother with it (b) try to free hand whatever part of the icon would be shown (c) try cutting up a decal 4) Can't say specifically for Infernus Marines but I have removed molded on pads from other stuff and it basically just involves attacking it with your clippers. Remove as much of the pad as you can, use a knife to smooth/round it out and that's about it. Like 80-90% (or more) of the damage will be hidden anyway. Drop a little ball of green stuff or other modelling putty inside the new pad when attaching it to the butchered shoulder helps make a more solid connection. Grotsmasha
For #4 specifically, with push-fit models, I've found it easier to glue the arms in place (with the power pack off), and then clip the molded on pads away. This is due to the shoulder being hollow for the peg on the body, which makes the shoulder deform easily if it's not on the peg. Secondly, I recommend sprue-goo to gap fill the cut down shoulder and new pad.
