I’d love for a more buff based speeder, smaller than a storm and focused around supporting units. Small things like letting units that can deep strike use it as a teleport homer, giving the smoke keyword to nearby units, giving out a modifier to hit, letting you generate Command Points if it’s in the enemy’s deployment zone.

We have many a transport already and scouts don’t need one, especially as they have uppy-downy now for free. Storm Speeders are fast and give us offensive buffs + damage, and we have a myriad of transports. Some more support units in our roster would be lush!

I'll be that guy.

I know it'll happen anyway, as surely as the sun rises and sets, but marines don't really need anything and it does suck for everyone else that there's even a debate over the marines 10th concurrent transport datasheet when some armies have fewer kits than marines have transport entries.

Do they also need a mobile buffing platform? Not really, there's nothing they really need. I know it'll happen regardless, but I just felt it needed highlighting that literally anything released is in "nice to have" unless it's multipart versions of etb or old kits.

The two units are not identical but their purpose and function on the tabletop is similar:

-Both carry less than 10 models.

-Both move quickly across the tabletop

-Both have unique disembarkation related rules

-Both allow the unit inside to shoot whilst in the transport

-Both vehicles have a focus on anti infantry firepower

Two units don't have to be exactly the same to have commonality.

On top of this, I'm also saying that it would be weird to have a Scout-only transport in a boxset with no Scouts.

By that metric the impulsor and the land raider or repulsor are basically the same.

The land raider and the repulsor aren't exactly a million miles apart in function, the land raider crusader is the closest analogue to the stock repulsor maybe? 10+ mini transport with a good volume of firepower and fairly tough - checks both units boxes.

Has there been any rumours on what the Ork side of things will be?

I'm guessing new Boyz, perhaps new Nobz. The Trukk desperately needs a new kit, that could be the new big model for them?

I think Flash Gitz have been rumoured or heavily suppositioned?

The Landraider and Repulsor DO have many similarities. Their movement, their weapons, their transport capacity, their toughness value, their size, etc...

I don't think anyone had ever stated that the Landraider and Repulsor aren't similar?

The Repulsor and Land Raider may be similar. But the Land Raider is better looking, is more 40k-esque and is actually cool.

The Repulsor IS Cawl's Grav-Landraider.
Simple as that.

Just wanna throw my pennies into the mix for a few things that've been said:

  • Multi-Part Outriders are definitely NOT in the launch box. Push-fit models only in these boxes. Outriders will be in the later Marine release wave.
  • I'm doubting a Land Speeder of any kind for the launch box for the same reason. IMO it just doesn't lend itself to push-fit.
  • Venerable dread in the box though I could 100% see.
  • Grav armed Gravis squad I can also see happening. Not sure about shoulder mounted though.
  • For the Orks, in today's video, Valrak said NO Storm Boys in the box which is weird.
  • I think the new Boys in the box could be a similar situaion to the 9th Ed. Necron Warriors. A Push-Fit kit that has two options for every model (in this case, shooty or stabby) and this becomes the long lasting kit leading to the weird pricing situation where it's cheaper to buy a starter set than a box of boys.
  • Deff Dread and Mega Nobz pls n thank you.

Looking forward to whatever is coming for the Orks but I know I'm old when I see Deff Dread and Mega Nobz listed for replacement and think 'those kits have only just come out!' and then look up how long its been....

It'll be sad to see the dread replaced as it's been so poseable with immense choice and variety for weapons. I live in hope but can't imagine a new dread being as fun a modelling project.

  • No Storm Boys
  • New Boys
  • New Gretchin
  • Gruntherder
  • Big Gun emplacement
  • Half Trak

No Storm Boys makes me think the "Fast theme" for this set is exagerrated.

The 2nd edition Blood Angels starter was mostly focused on foot infantry, so we might not have any other jump units beyond the Vanguard Vets and Chaplain.
Anything goes now. I really am expecting that Venerable Dread lol.

What I said is that based on the previously given vague descriptors the impulsor is the same as the landraider and the repulsor

Neither repulsor nor land raider have firing deck, so no, not given the prior criteria. But fundamentally, yes, all the marine transports bar the stormraven bear the commonality of "go forward fast and dump people out" they differ in toughness, capacity and armament, that's it really. 9 datasheets of that is enough really.

If we're getting Boyz and grots in the launch box and it's a hark back to 2nd edition...

Leviathan vs "Armageddon":

Winged Tyranid prime - Warboss

Neurotyrant - walking gun platform (?)

Screamer killer - wartrak

Termagants - Grots

Neurogaunts - Boyz (?)

Barbgaunts - ?

Psychophage - ?

Leviathan was the largest, most crammed launch box to date. I can't believe that Armageddon will be smaller. It'll be interesting to see what else will be in it.

Given the Dawn of War trailer described a Gorkanaut as being a 'walking fort', I'd not be surprised to see a 'Dakkanaut' as the non-transport, dual gun version of one of those - rather than what a lot of us might be thinking of when it comes to a walking turret (something perhaps Onager Dunecrawler like).

But in the above list, I feel if you swap Neurotyrant for Slaverboss, Screamer Killer for Dakkanaut, switch the grots/boys for Neuro (10)/Termagants (2x10), Pyschophage for Trakk and Barbguants for something like Nobs/Meganobs/Wildcard new elite (SM1 'Ard Boyz etc) and you'd be pretty close.
