Maybe this eradicators will get IW gun - Flak/Shrapnel Cannon ?

Its look Bolter'ish

I think it's been suggested before in this thread, but I think it's quite likely. The new Deathwatch kill team has it for Gravis armour as well.

Maybe... i see them wanting to keep it DW only but you never know. The description somewhere mentioned the heavy bolter in the company heroes kit as well as the assault bolters of the inceptors in the same breath. What visually links those two is the "shield" in front of the gun.

Of course could be a frag cannon with said shield but...

Y'know, a 3 man heavy bolter gravis squad doesn't seem like it has a lot going for it, but I think the real advantage is gonna be numbers.  You double it up to a six man squad, then stick a captain or biologis in it for seven, with an enhancement, and I think you might really have something.

Still no more firepower than a 10-man Heavy Intercessor squad but (presumably) fewer wounds and lower OC. To be worthwhile they will either need good special rules or be priced to shift.

I have a hunch this will either be a unit that is crazy good at launch and then gets nerfed into oblivion or is a damp squib that GW spends the rest of the edition buffing to try and persuade people to take.

Opening up the Deathwatch Cupboards to the entire Astartes is no more beyond the pale these days than everyone getting grav tech, Land Raider Crusaders, divergent chapters getting all the non divergent stuf etc

Thats a GW sales POV not mine, I prefer the different USPs to exist

Always find it hilarious that Reddit always go off the rumours I say then call me names.

Anything remotely clever or memorable?

I know it's a longshot, but of the list of names I regularly call you, there are three that I'm not particularly proud of and would like to retire once I find suitable replacements:

The Babble of Britain

Chief Throwing Bull

The Fallen

(That last one is particularly dated, since THE ROOF is rumored to be going to Legends in 11th).

Chances are it's designed to be good given the armies in the box rather than for the larger meta, so they'll be really good vs. orks.

That would make total sense to me. Wouldn't be the first time someone mixed up things while leaking info.

That would make the gravis unit distinct to our heavy boys. I actually don't know the rules for flak canons atm, but they shouldn't step too much into existing load outs, does it?

Regarding the rest of the marines I'm also in the "not very impressed" camp. I'm curious about the new van vets, but that's it. Even while I own three old land speeders I barely used them and I can't see a place in my lists if they don't stick some amazing rules onto it. The character entourage is redundant to models I already own in multiples and fancy intercessors are not especially exiting to me either.

Valrak's (or his source's) description of the weapon for this new unit is that it has a frontal shield in the style of the Inceptor's bolters, so if they share that piece of design language I'd sooner assume it's bolters before getting ideas that it's something different because the weapons look similar.

Valrak has a new video on the Ork half of the box, and it sounds a LOT better than what the Marines are getting.

He also mentioned that the Speeder might be a new "heavy" variant so something bigger than the Stormspeeders? That's very different from what we were thinking about before.

Also, the Ork half sounds big. 2 vehicles, 20 boys, a bunch of other units and characters.

To specify:

New Warboss model

New Weridboy

New Runtherd - think, I might be mixing it with older rumor

Big Boss Nob(?)

New Wartrakk

Walker with some kind of Mek Gun - Meka Dread replacement?

New Grotz

New Boyz

Might have missed something when Valrak started waffling about the box not being about specific Marine Chapter/Ork Clan

Ork Lieutenant-equivalent character, I think. Good to hear on that, been wanting one for a while.

Seconded. Being limited to Warbosses for years made no sense. It'll be nice to have big bosses back so we don't have to have multiple Warbosses in lists. Always a necessity but always felt wrong.

Honestly the number of characters in these rumors is really unfortunate to me.

even for a newb just wanting to get into the game doesn’t seem like a great value to get 4 characters instead of 1 and an extra infantry unit of some sort

Excited for a new wartrakk!

Totally agree about the Lieutenant (Lootenunt?), sorely needed and fits the lore perfectly. Was a big fan of the 5 Ed box boyz, hopefully get a good stack here. Also hope we get a true multipart boyz kit with the codex.

All the other stuff sounds good, hopefully get a cool weirdboy and a different take on a Warboss.

Am most excited to see what comes with the codex. I'm happy with 99% of the current range so not bothered about replacement kits - give me cool new Orky stuff!

This is the full tally as per today's video:

  • Warboss
  • Big Boss Nob (What a thrill)
  • Nob with banner (probably a WAAAGH! banner but this is just my guess)
  • Painboy
  • Weirdboy
  • Boyz (20 and of the monopose variety because launch box)
  • Gretchins (a Runtherd was also mentioned last video concerning orks, but not this time)
  • Wartrakk
  • Yet unnamed gun with legs thingamajig

I'd love to see a proper battle tank. The battlewagon kit is brilliant but something akin to the kill Krusha or otherwise would be nice.

I'd like to see new stuff also and not redos. However, if we get new boys and the old kit retires then the burna/ lootas will need replacing too as one of the mek weapons (the rokkit launcher) uses an arm from the boys box.

Guess we'll see but fingers crossed.

Seems like a little more plastic than Nids got?

Big Ork half would support big Speeder too rough balance wise

I think the Runtherd could come in the release wave after the launch box and that's why isn't mentioned as part of it.

Not gonna lie, both halves feel a bit dull in comparison to last time. It might be more raw plastic, but much less variation in units and less new stuff.

Sorry Valrak. I was on my phone in a car.

(Edit: as a passenger! Lol)

From one Son of Dorn to another, I will do better.

I'm off for a bout of the pain glove...

You can do more than 5 minutes work a day and link it yourself ;)

the mek walker Valrak mentions in latest video could be a plastic version of the FW Ork Meka Dread? Not really a gun platform, but is a mek walker and follows the trend of releasing FW resin minis in new plastic versions.
