Dark imperium was definitely push fit. Most of the supporting minis from the release such as the blight hauler are still "Easy To Build".

I've said it before but if they don't put terrain and boards in the launch box for a new version of combat patrol, I'll be amazed.

Except there was no Blight Hauler in Dark Imperium.  You're thinking of the Easy to Build kits, which were for sure designed for new players.  Dark Imperium was just regular model kits, the instructions even mention needing glue.

You can find the instructions online, not sure why you'd argue about it; https://imgur.com/a/dark-imperium-box-set-primaris-space-marines-death-guard-ndE4b

Think you're absolutely spot on. Skaventide did it so people could build and play spearhead straight out of the box, I really can't see a reason why 40k wouldn't follow suit with this by doing something similar.

I still have unassembled Dark Imperium models. They're next to me as I type this. They are not push fit, they are just monopose. I can post photos if people really want to argue.

I know there was no blight hauler in the box thank you. They released the easy to build wave alongside the formal release of the starter products.

Admittedly no dark imperium isnt a literal push fit, but they also weren't the standard multipart sprues and had all the nubs and grooves for easy alignment. They were more of a halfway house. Reduced parts, easier to build and monopose.

Push fit DI is one of the weird things people have really strong memories of existing that definitely didn't. The human memory is a weird thing.

There are a lot of push fit models they released at the same time and as above they also weren't the multipart kits.

Look at all these lovely alignment pegs and square joints so you can't mess up the pose and so on. They're not literal pushfit but they aren't true multipart kits

There was an Intercessor Sergeant in Dark Imperium who had a bolt rifle in one hand, no helmet, a typical marine crew cut and was pointing. There's also an Intercessor Sergeant in the push-fit easy to build Intercessors  that released at almost the same time who had a bolt rifle in one hand, no helmet, a typical marine crew cut and was pointing but a slightly different pose (gun down instead of up). I wouldn't be shocked if those two models cause some people to get mixed up as to which were push-fit and which weren't.

I also concur that the new box will take a leaf out of AoS's book regarding Combat Patrol, i just hooe that's not the only improvement they make to it and instead look at what works with Spearhead and bring that over as well.

Of course, this is just going to add to the price...

Leviathan contained well more than a combat patrol

Correct, it contained two combat patrols (that were not even in the slightest) and an additional 2 sprues per faction...Which is what AoS also had in Skaventide plus all the extra spearhead stuff.
