Valkyrion
Q1 - I've heard PVA glue is important to use for these kind of texture paints - do I put PVA on first, then my base colours or base colours first then the pva? Q2 - how safe is it to dryrbush afterwards? e.g, does a rigorous pull the flakes off? Q3 - should I ardcoat it afterwards? (Q4 semi related - I have some GW PVA glue that was opened about 5 years ago and barely used. It's been kept on its side and looks like its separated. Will a good shake make it good again, or is it done. I know its not expensive, but I don't need to buy anything else and my brain tells me I'm not allowed to order any GW products unless I meet the £50 carriage paid threshold...) Thanks! Madao
Basecoat -> PVA -> thick mordant earth (I recommend doingsome tests to feel the thickness). Skipping PVA should be fine if your base coat holds the base well, but you will get smaller cracks (PVA helps the paint to 'slip') Drybrushing is fine, nothing flakes off Mordant Earth has quite flat finish - ardcoating it will make it more basalt-like instead of just cracked black mud Old PVA should be fine, just add some water to it and mix well (unless there are some globs of PVA after mixing, then it started to harden and there is not much you can do without using some solvants). Ardcoat should work fine, if applied instead of PVA Reminder - keep the base for at least 24 hours, to let the paint crack AND do not speed it up with any hairdryer/warming it up/anything as it will reduce the effect. Plus let the PVA dry well, before applying Mordant Earth Edited January 19 by Madao Valkyrion 1 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/387457-mordant-earth-and-other-crackle-paint/#findComment-6152846 Share on other sites
