I was looking at some old Mark Gibbons artwork and realised that some of the recent character releases have been based directly on them. Fabius Bile, Mephiston, Asmodai, Azrakh the Annihilator etc. are all copy/paste from the artwork. As GW are obviously using old artwork for inspiration I was wondering what people would like to see make the jump from paper to plastic. For me, one of my favourite as a kid was the Epic 40k box art with the Blood Angels captain. I would love to pick up this guy as a model and think that it would translate really well. What artwork would you like to see inspire future models?

Pretty much anything Mark Gibbons has done, the World Eater with chainsword and clenched power fist springs to mind (ye olde 2nd ed metal mini armed as described dos'nt count).

Blanche's style of artwork has never appealed to me, always thought of it as scruffy and dirty, no matter how creative the images were.

An updated Nemesis Dreadknight based on the artwork in the codex when it was first introduced. Where it was more like a Exo-skelton/suit addition to a Terminator than the harness infront with the legs hanging oddly.

The Sisters of Battle Paragon warsuites (while having their own issues) are much closer to that idea than the actual dreadknight kit in how the pilot is intergrated into the suit.

Damn.... that's a really difficult one... I would have said Mephiston, but his update happened, and it was Pretty much perfect.

I guess I've always liked this pair. They aren't particularly special for Tech Priests, It's mainly nostalgia and atmosphere that make me like this one.

This beautiful firstborn Salamanders captain from some of the Armageddon artwork! Been dying to have that sword since I saw it.

Looks like he borrowed his sword from Guilliman.

That might be Tu’shan? If it isn’t, it’d still make a great chapter master.

There is plenty of 40K artwork that I love.  Not sure there are many I’ve wanted converted into a model, but I really like the Inquisition Wars trilogy of covers by Clint Langley and there are several of the early WD covers I have often thought of attempting as a diorama.

This might change if I could get a look inside Jes Goodwin’s sketchbooks. :whistling:
