Ulfast
Hello everyone. I´m building and playing with a Deathwing heavy army theme with lot of terminators and other deathwing units (like inner circle etc). But what detachment do you think are the best? I have so far used Wrath of the Lion but I don´t really feel it. So I´m wondering if any of you have experince with other detachment for Deathwing? Or is Wrath of the Lion best? Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/387489-help-with-detachment-for-a-deathwing-army/ Share on other sites
Matinka
I like Wrath of the Rock, I think its the best Dark Angels specific detachment but it doesn't really specialise in terminators. The toughness boost from the detachment is pretty nice on Deathwing knights though. If you want to lean into a fluffy detachment, the Inner Circle Taskforce is the one to look at. I don't think its all that great competitively but certainly nails the deathwing flavour Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/387489-help-with-detachment-for-a-deathwing-army/#findComment-6153963 Share on other sites
Ulfast
Thanks. And to start with, of course its wrath of the rock, silly me to say it wrong. I will look into the other one. I heard from a friend also that the classic space marine, gladius, is good too. What do you think? The Lion's Blade Task Force has appeal trying to pair Ravenwing and Deathwing together, but the payoff is pretty small for the amount of overhead you have to do. And you can't really run the Lion in any of them either because he stupidly doesn't have any of the Keywords. The Lion should count as having ALL the keywords because all them stem from him. But what do I know. If you run the Lion with DA (or just in general) yeah you want to run some of the generic Dets. I'd look at the Gladius Det and I'd look at the Orbital Assault Force. Lion, Deathwing, and handing out free Deepstrike to stuff that normally doesn't deep strike strikes me as somewhat interesting from the Orbital Det. Karhedron
I think that Wrath of the Rock is pretty decent. Always-on Transhuman Physiology army-wide is really good for helping to keep you numerically small army alive and stacks incredibly well with Deathwing Knights. There are a couple of decent enhancements and a good toolbox of Stratagems. I have seen various armies built with this do well at tournaments. I've also heard Gladius is a great detachment but I haven't tried any of the generic space marine detachments so I'm not sure if it helps/suits a deathwing themed force particularly Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/387489-help-with-detachment-for-a-deathwing-army/#findComment-6154116 Share on other sites

All six Gladius Strats and the Det ability work on pretty much everybody. Inner Circle Task Force (And others like Wrath of the Rock and Lion's Blade tend to narrow which Strat targets you can pick based on Keywords like Infantry, Deathwing, Ravenwing etc. So your Ravenwing strats can't work on Deathwing units, and none of them work on the Greenwing support units.
