Hello everyone,

I’m new to the hobby and excited to finally join the community here.

I picked up my first Warhammer mini last year, starting with Space Wolves. I really enjoyed building the Combat Patrol box… and before I had anything tabletop-ready, that somehow turned into buying more, then more, and eventually some Orks as well. As these stories usually go, things escalated quickly.

Just last week I met up with a friend I connected with through my local game shop and played my first ever 500-point game. Space Wolves vs. Emperor’s Children — and I’m happy to say I walked away with the win. That first game definitely flipped the switch for me. While I’m still new, I’m now sitting on 3,000+ points in my growing pile of shame and finally have a solid reason to get them built, painted, and on the table as soon as possible.

I haven’t played any of the video games yet, but after my first visit to a Games Workshop store I dove headfirst into the lore through the Black Library. I’ve finished the Eisenhorn trilogy and am currently working my way through Ravenor, and I’m absolutely hooked.

I’m enjoying every part of the hobby — building, painting, learning the rules, and getting things ready for play. One of the best parts has been sitting down with my kids, whether at the shop or at home, building and painting together.

I’m a father of nine and husband of one (assuming I can keep my miniature purchases under control).

Thanks for reading — I’m looking forward to learning more, following along, and getting to know everyone here.

Cheers!

Welcome, and I'm glad you are enjoying the hobby - its great that its something that your kids are willing to do with you.  My friend and most common gaming partner plays and paints with his son, so I always enjoy hearing how their hobby time together is going.

And yeah, the Eisenhorn series is great - its probably my favourite of all the 40K novels.  That said, you really can't go wrong with anything written by Dan Abnett, so after you are done Ravenor you might want to check out Abenett's other work - maybe the Ghaunt's Ghosts, if you are up to a longer, imperial guard focused, series.

Welcome @Para__Digm

I love the early days of the hobby, getting totally sucked into the setting and wanting to absorb everything all at once. I'm incredibly impressed you're a father of nine and find time to put into the hobby. I'm a father of one (two and a half years old), and I struggle to find the time. I've only recently got back into the hobby after what my gaming group calls a "Baby Break". Hope to see some models from you in the future.
