Well, after years away and seeing the absolute drip 30k has, my self and my guys are buying in. Got the books, and were pulling the trigger on boxes. One will play World Eaters, one is going Imperial Fists. I will go Blood Angels or Space Wolves. Hands down they are my two favorite legions: The noble savagery of the Angels and their assaults, the bestial fury and the purposfully underestimated tactics of the Rout.

It stops there, I have no idea which way to go here as I have another expensive hobby/career....so I'm doing one army at a time. Also correct me if I'm wrong:

Blood angels have a great line, red looks sick, good weapon options even with Paladins getting Iliastus cannons and pseudo baal predators with twin linked iliastus cannons, but also has flexibility to be shooty and droppy too with Angels Tears bringing in shooty deep strikes. Bonus their Praetor in Terminator armor is an absolute unit.

Wolves. Even more melee then angels. Grey slayers storm the board and kills :cuss:. Varagyr terminators are awesome, and Deathsworn are meat grinders. Grey Slayers become mandatory, but otherwise theres flexibility with the rest of hte list, but Hvarl Red-Blade is a must?

Anyways, thanks for entertaining an indecisive Loyalist.

Ideas to help:

Paint 5 in one colour scheme and 5 in the other scheme!  You'll probably have to paint ~100 models anyway so you might as well check you enjoy it first :P

Got a favourite Marks of armour?  Earlier Marks could be used for either but if you want to use lots of 6 & 7, the Blood Angels at the Siege of Terra makes most sense.  (I don't know if the Space Wolves had a chance to grab Mk. VII before trying to assassinate Horus)

Re-read the books and/or re-listen to lore videos (Arbitor Ian's and Occulus Imperia's series are excellent)

You could always do a small group of Space Wolves to make sure your Blood Angels are loyal?  My Emperor's Children are also going to be kept in line by a group of Space Wolves:

Painting isnt an issue, once I like something I'll paint the :cuss: out of those. MKs, love the 2,3 and 6 and all would look great in either faction...especially the 6s for assault marines for BA. I'm torn on the mechanics for the factions, bother different flavors of melee and shooty. It boils down to do I want to storm hte field with Grey Slayers or deep strike in :cuss: with the BAs.

Good advice though brother!

Why choose?

I suppose this is meant to be the benifit of having allies. You could build up your models, approximately 50/50 and have a go. If you end up liking one more than the other you could start building them up while phasing out the other.

In a more focused/cheaper way, maybe have a go at building some lists for each. See what calls more to you.

From a modelling perspective, the Space Wolves legion specific stuff is much newer and in many cases a better scale fit for the new plastic guys than the Blood Angels resin, if that is a concern for you -  but on the flip side, Blood Angels are 'easier' to get looking good from the plastic kits as they need fewer bling pieces (bones and fur and totems and things).

I can't really offer any game insight as my Blood Angels are only just starting to come together and I've only played with My Emperors Children and I've not faced Space Wolves,

I may throw in: Grey Slayers are not mandatory. You can just take whatever unit you want just like in any other legion.

I may be biased, but what are you looking for from a thematic point - the legion that fought against the world eaters, and with the imperial fists at the gates of terra, the biggest single canon event that defined the entire setting, taking part in the biggest battle in history, remaining loyal then joining the assault on the vengeful spirit, or the legion whose prejudice allowed them to be duped into destroying a loyal legion, who then disobeyed dorn, fled terra (weakening her defences) failed in the attempt to kill Horus, and were almost annihilated by a splinter fleet of the alpha legion?

Of course you could always go Blood Angels with a SW Watch pack, totally fluffy and in line with lore.
