It's an awesome model.  But the Iron Warriors one is NEXT F'ING LEVEL!!!  Yes, I'm biased.  But MY GOD!  Iron within.  Iron Without.

Twin, Twin Las, and a battle cannon. Yeah, you hear me knocking.

The new load outs are as exciting as the kit itself.

The level of weapon choice is amazing. Between the weapons, the armour and heads you could run a trio and they all be different to each other. Very excited to get hold of these.

Alternatively if you wanted to go maximum body horror you could kitbash and sculpt in some bits of zombie or whatever to make the flesh look like an amalgam of sacrificial corpses melded into one disturbing mass, rather than just generic daemonflesh.

Damn. That’s a really cool idea!

I need to see the assembly instructions to work out how to swap the head and chest gun around so I can give it a Juggernaut head.

No particular reason, I just like the idea.

the extra armor plates on the Iron Warriors version really help with the fleshiness concern, imo. Not perfect, but reads much less like a centaur in an armored croptop (not that I mind a good armored croptop, but it doesn't fit all the army aesthetics)

The Iron Warriors one looks really good. I remember some months ago we were getting rumours about Perturabo coming out. If someone had leaked this image and told me it was Perty, I would probably have been convinced (apart from the lack of the iconic hammer perhaps).

I got inspired, went overboard

Why not? Rubrics are suits of dust, but I think more of the Thousand Sons range should be gribbly in contrast. It's one of the failings of those dumb robots we got

Yeah, also, it's not like there's a rubricae in there. It's a Daemon (presumably a Daemon of Tzeentch) stuck in there; why would it be sealed up like a dustbin marine?

The origional defiler only let you get one of each weapon. Now that we can see that the new kits allows for 2 twin las, I wonder if other weapon options can double up.

In addition, some weapons look like they got upgrades. Previously we had a twin heavy flamer. Is that a twin baleflamer now? We had the havoc launcher, the new one looks very much like the helbrute missile launcher.

The twin heavy bolter and combi bolter might be axed from the kit having not seen any pictures yet.

There's also the new nipple guns, which seems to be an option between two heavy stubbers (Cawl...) or two balefamers. So I see there being  a funny 4x baleflamer + battle cannon + scourge, for when you really really hate infantry like that guy from battletech who keeps shoving 5 flamethrowers and 8 machine guns into mechs

More likely the stubbers are like the Venomcrawlers Excruciator Cannons.

That does look very familiar to someone's art of Daemony Perty.images(19).jpeg.a007c83497af7974e61b1dd92cd54733.jpeg

Intentionally so, its the only image I know of daemon perturabo ( even if Im aware its just fan art.)

tried to mimick the hammer with the LE variant of the Horus heresy ironwarrior smith who holds the hammer in two arms, but the different scale looked weird.

Did it from memory though, and I forgot about the tail and the big halo, and wrongly included mechandrites ( perhaps I mixed up some other fanart that might have passe me by.)

big fan of his vision of 40k.

I feel the Defiler is gonna be a big boon for Emperor's Children in particular.

Who seriously lack anti tank.

Probably World Eaters too.

World Eaters don't actually yearn for this. Their Forgefiends are frankly stupid datasheets that should never have been created to begin with.

With Emperor's Children though, I'm calling it that every list will start with two Defilers at minimum.

The army doesn't 'need' them. However, it'll be nice to do something in the shooting phase that isn't noise marines or allies. Can't wait and can't decide what weapons to go with either.

It's a multi-phase unit that fulfills a drastic need for the army.

Trust me, you'll see two of them.

I'll be ordering two ASAP as they're stunning 'minis' that's for sure. I won't be doing a trio due to $$$ and footprints.
