I've found a sealed box of this big dude and was going to put it in my spring ebay pile, but I've done a bit of googling and noticed that it's really a platform being pulled by a couple of daemon brute things. The parasol is a little out place, but I think I can 40k it up by using some EC logos, chaos stars and the like, and replacing the AoS characters with EC/CSM, except that big dude at the back which I'm at a bit of a loss with. Could paint it up as a statue, maybe?

I don't know what I'd use it as - defiler or soulgrinder probably - but it's more about the modelling of it.

So if anyone has any thoughts I'd be very interested to hear. Maybe the whole aesthetic is just too AoS and not as 40k-able as I think.

I don't think there is anything about the model which is out of place in the 40K universe per se - certainly, it seems in line with some of the weirder stuff we see in the Necromunda setting.  That said, I'm not sure what role it would play in 40K proper, of how to make it fit there, given that there really isn't an analogous model you could easily make it a stand in for.

You do want to be careful with size comparisons based on base size, particularly from pre-release pictures.  I'm assuming that LSM's comparison is from the Mini Compare website, which I've had problems with before with it improperly sizing minis (we had a big to-do over it during CtA 2025 over the size of the Mephiston mini, which the webiste made look far larger than it actually was).

That said, assuming the two are about the same size, a Defiler probably is the best match, with everything above the "deck" replaced with the Defiler gun options and crews for them.  Frankly, it would be kind of hilarious if you could keep the parasol in doing so.  And personally, I think it would match the "haulers" better if you could make the crew cultists rather than marines.

Yeah. That image is assuming that the new Defiler is still on a 160mm round base. (Glutos is on a 170x105mm oval, according to the GW webstore.)

I may be mistaken, but I don't think GW makes bigger bases than that? So unless the new Defiler is scaled down and on a smaller base... it at least shouldn't be any bigger.

A little while back I was using Mini Compare to check the sizing on the 30k Lucius model... and he was obviously just too big. It was readily apparent that they had sized him as if he was on a 50mm base (like the 40k Lucius) when he's only on a 32mm.

So I did go and double-check Glutos' base size.

Thanks for double checking the Glutos base size, LMS.  And I think you are right about the probably Defiler base size, given that a) 160mm seems to be the biggest GW round base and b) the GW tourney pack lists that base as the appropriate base for a defiler (though this is obviously for the old defiler, as it long predates the reveal of the new one, it is reasonable to assume that, given the old one has no base, that the decision on base size was influenced in part by what base the new would be getting).

That said, these kind of base-based size comparisons can be a bit iffy, even when the correct base sizes are used, particularly where the models aren't photographed at the same angle (which, to be fair, doesn't seem to be the case here).  So, I'm not saying the comparison provided is necessarily inaccurate, but just that it may be.  So, if one does intend to Glutos as the basis for the defiler conversation, the safest approach would be to wait for the new model to be released before putting in a bunch of work.

If it is a good size, it actually seems like a great basis - the top platform could mount the "chest cannon" and crew, the two side ones the "arm guns" and crews and the front one (where the guy with the whip is) the two small chest guns and their crew(s).   Hmm... maybe I will steal this idea (I have a kitbash, I'll be buying the new one, so this would be my 3rd)...
