Hello fellow fraters,

I hope this is the right place to ask this question. I am currently working on a conversion of the ‘Marneus Calgar Terminator Armour (New)’ model. I am a big fan of the Imperial Fists, which is why I decided to create a captain based on this model. However, I am having problems with the edges of the armour, especially with the choice of colour. Gold would of course be the obvious choice if you stick to the original colour scheme of the model, but in my opinion gold work betters as a contrast to the blue than to the yellow I am using for the model.

At the moment, I am leaning towards a silver or metallic colour. Can you recommend a colour that you think would suit the model best?

Thanks for the replies!

Just as a clarification since maybe this has been a mistake on my part, but my opening question has been in regard towards the area of armour marked with the red circle as seen in the second picture, not especially the shoulder pauldrons or Crux Terminatus (although your advice on these ones will surely be helpful as well).

Anything grey of the miniature is of course the raw plastic which I have yet to paint or where I have yet to add other elements of the model (like the Ultramarine star medal)

My initial reaction was to take my cue from how GW painted Darnath Lysander, but of course, he doesn't have any of that trim around the head area.

Silver would be the logical choice in terms of contrast, but it doesn't seem "special" enough? On Lysander's hammer, GW used a rather pale gold for the eagle's head - maybe that might work?

I'm for silver on the trim - I don't think the tan/gray are impressive enough there, but would look great on the shoulders.  Personally, I also think the eagle on the shoulder would be better in silver, white, gray or bone - the gold is too close to the yellow in tone for my tastes.
