++ The Shadow Crusade ++

Desperate to neuter the threat of the XIIIth Legion to his rebellion, Horus Lupercal sent two of his brothers - Lorgar Aurelian, golden lord of the XVIIth, and Angron, broken master of the XIIth - to ravage the realm of Ultramar. This "Shadow Crusade", as it later came to be known, cut a path of devastation and ruin across the Five Hundred Worlds. So vile were the atrocities committed by the two Legions that the Empyrean became a roiling tempest, cutting the beleaguered sector off from the wider Imperium - and with it, the Ultramarines from the wider war...

Last year, I built myself a custom version of Lorgar Aurelian out of a spare Stormcast Eternals miniature - and this year I felt compelled to also have a go at recreating Angron, this time using one of the Age of Sigmar Khorne heroes! I'm really happy with how both of them turned out, so I figured I'd post them here for you guys to see them as well. Hope you enjoy!

Also, here's a little glamour shot I took of Angron on the diorama base I put together for Lorgar (of which I have no proper pictures yet - which I will have to rectify at some point!):

[...] From the black sands of the Urgall Depression would the Phoenix rise once more, no longer as the shining paragon of the Imperium, but as the blood-stained harbinger of yet greater atrocities. Whatever nobility had existed within the Legion died alongside the brothers they betrayed, their honour cast into the pyre of Horus' great ambition. From that point on, both the Emperor's Children and their Primarch would descend deeper and deeper into the blackest depths of depravity, chasing naught but their own desires like ravenous dogs...

Rather unexpectedly, I managed to build myself another Primarch! I'd had ideas for this conversion for a while, but never really committed to it until now. The model practically built itself, if I'm being honest - everything slotted into place rather nicely! He's not 100% accurate to how he's depicted in artwork, but I think he does "read" as Fulgrim well enough. I decided to give him Fireblade, rather than the Blade of the Laer (mostly because I didn't have a suitable sword to hand), and gave him some Istvaan V-looking basing.

Hope you enjoy!

Mortarion has come!

MORE PRIMARCHS! MORE!

I didn't actually intend to build Mortarion right now, but I was fiddling around with something else, and he just sort of happened. Oh well, can't have enough Primarchs, can you? :P

I went for a brooding, stalking-the-battlefield sort of look for him, like he's running down the last few stragglers at Istvaan III. Building his backpack was quite a fun experience - I finally found a good use for all my tech-gubbins!

Here's a little glamour shot of two of my favourite details - the XIV on his shoulder pad (which turned out reasonably well!), and the unlucky Marine who clearly didn't escape the firestorm!
