I apologize if this has already been brought up, but if it has I didn't see it. Anyway, I've been out of the loop for a bit because my wife and I had a baby a few months back, but now I'm hoping to trickle back in a little bit. That being said, I was looking at the new(er) assault terminator rules as well as RCO and I'm having thoughts.

1. 3+ to hit hammers is a nice buff (and absolutely necessary, tbh).

2. More attacks is always a good thing, but since 3+ to-hit TH's is our second best infantry-mounted melee profile (after Assault Cents), each extra attack is more meaningful on them than it will be on anything else. The ability to have +2 attacks on the charge on-tap is also rather interesting.

2a. Add a libby to crank the extra hit to 11! With all the buffs kicking (OoM, Limb from Limb, and Battleshock), 5 terminators will hit 27.7 times on the charge with hammers! Even without any buffs or to-hit rerolls, that's still 20 attacks that are mathematically the same as hitting on 2+.

3. RR1's to-wound also further synergized with the DW.

Yes, that's a lot of investment, but tell me that wouldn't be a blast to pull off!

This all being said, I think SH1 with RR1's to wound is actually better than +1 to-wound with RR1's to wound when DW are involved. I've ran the numbers against a couple hard targets (where the +1 to-wound has the most benefit), and the SH edges it out slightly, and maintains it's full benefit against softer targets where the +1 to-wound is less meaningful...

More math would need to be done before I can make that claim definitively, but I don't feel like doing it right now! :P

4: I've got a bunch of assault termies primed and I'd love an excuse to paint them!

In RCO there's a lot to be said for having a TDA Chaplain (for the +1 To Wound as it can't be granted another way) and there's a huge niche for LC TDA vs things like C'Tan as with the aid of LFL, you can drown it in decent 1D attacks.

Like always, a lot of it depends on your meta and the intended purpose of the unit (as the TDA Ancient would arguably be better for storming objectives).

As for point 4, you never need an excuse to paint BA Terminators

I guess the chappy's MW resistance would help if fighting something like the nightbringer in the event that it doesn't go down too. Sigh.

I just ran the numbers and you're right. The LC squad squad with chappy does about 8% more damage to the night bringer than the squad with the Libby and all the buffs kicking, and roughly double the hammernators regardless of who's leading them. Sigh. I guess I need to get a terminator chappy now. All my terminators are firstborn (all 45 of them!), so I really don't want to get the new one. and the old one is really expensive on ebay...
