Just a name change apparently, but they made a video about it, so you may get a smirk from that if nowt else.

Warhammer Colour is the exact same paint you know and love – fantastic Base, Layers, Shades, and Technical paints, and of course the game-changing Contrast paints.

Over the next few weeks and months you’ll start to see paint pots and accessories branded with Warhammer Colour appearing in Warhammer stores, and your friendly local gaming stores.

What is going on with that typeface?! The rebrand makes perfect sense – the whole "citadel" thing is confusing to newcomers – but why introduce a janky new logo to the mix. Just use the one on the storefront and all the packaging!

I really hope this isn't the last time that they "didn't change the colors" when they redid it a year or two ago and actually did change some of the tones

Other than that, meh, inconsequential really. Valrak did have rumors a bit ago that said they were bringing more hobby/paint stuff out so I'd assume this is part of that

Coming soon, Droppod Assault(TM) Paint Pot Upgrade Sets. This multipart metal and plastic kit converts Warhammer Colour(TM) paint pots into dropper bottles. These are ideal for paint longevity, consistency, and mixing accuracy. This kit lets you upgrade up to five Warhammer Colour(TM) paint pots with Dropper Lids and Mixing Balls, and contains 5 plastic and 10 metal components. This metal and plastic kit is not a toy - it is a collectable item and construction should only be undertaken by expert Warhammer hobbyists aged 15 years and over.

I understand the rebranding but as an old timer the nostalgia of citadel colour name was a link to the good old days.......

I may have to see if i can dig out an old bottle of goblin green and some flock to mark this passing!

I find this distasteful for reasons I can’t explain

I must say I understand why, but I am really sad at the loss of historicity in dropping "Citadel". This was one of the last really visible elements of the half of the origins of GW.

Yuk. It feels super soulless just like much of what has done recently. Going for a new brand.

"Warhammer paints. Warhammer miniatures. Warhammer water pots. Warhammer crisps. Warhammer shoes..."

Like an 80s corporate monster.

Oh my god, they're OCP.

I can understand this from a corporate point of view, although I am personally not a fan. I mean I still google Games Workshop rather than Warhammer, so some habits die hard...

Meh. I can't find it in me to care. The Citadel logo and allat looks better but I guess they just want the word "Warhammer" everywhere it can be. Advertising their main game and all that...

I can see why but ultimately this is a shoulder shrug reaction from me. Its neither here or there.

Worth pointing out though that we're still getting rumours about a new premium paint line in dropper bottles. However, I'll be expecting this to be where the price increase lies.

The video is a little funny but I've never encountered or heard of anyone being confused by the name of the paint over the last 40+ years. I'm sure it' s happened somewhere but we weren't ever painting D&D minis with D&D paints or Battletech minis with Battletech paint. This is corporate's marketing wizards demanding brand unification so someone can make it a bullet point on their year-end review. Ultimately the name on  jar isn't terribly important but time and money was spent on this effort so  ... alright, now we all know it's something you can paint warhammer stuff with.

Does this make my current pile of Citadel-branded paints OOP Collector's Items I can sell on eBay for 5x the original price?

Genuinely sad to see the old name go.

I'm a little surprised this wasn't GW reformulating or relaunching their paint range though (in new pots...) as it feels like they've lost a lot of ground to other manufacturers in recent years. Citadel has its gems but it's incredibly inconsistent in quality and consistency across the range. I've sporadically heard the rumour about a separate 'Warhammer Premium' paint range launching but that's baffling to me if true.
