As others have said, the axe arm and the unhelmeted head look a bit small, though IMO the helmet and klaw versions alleviate that somewhat.

To be fair, what self-respectin' Warboss would pick a puny choppa over a ded-killy klaw, and why wouldn't they have a boss 'at?

More seriously ... I really like the klaw/horned hat assembly, and I like that there appears to be a fair few aesthetic options so people can customise the model a bit.

I do wish they had a bit more of the Kev Adams/Brian Nelson aesthetic, but this one works for me too ...

It feels like a move back to the more gritty ‘Orks are nasty’ that GW did a few years back. They experimented with them being less cartoon wacky.

To me it reads as a ‘gritty’ take on the classics of Messers Adams and Nelson.

Recently a couple Ork kits have had slightly baboon like faces with really naff teeth. Those have put me off Orks.

However, if we see MANs and such resculpted to this aesthetic and scale I will be very tempted to get some.

As others have said, the Grot is the best of the two. That little ****** looks as if he has already plotted exactly when and how he’s going to slit your throat.

Just wondering: You people that say the new warboss doesn't have the "fun vibes" of old models, what old warboss/similar figures are you thinking of as example of "fun vibes"?

This generation of minis.

The modern kommandos kit is the closest they've got to this era. The wrecka crew is a great box too.

I don’t remember if it was this thread or the 11th ed thread where someone said they think there’s 4 waves of ork waves coming, it was like KT, release box, starter box, new codex.

if orks are in the 11th release box, that likely means new codex with the release of 11th at the same time as marines, so maybe 3 waves at most.  How long ago was the wrecka krew/tank bustas KT released? I feel like it was about a year ago so new KT in the next 6 months seems unlikely to me, so maybe 2 waves of new stuff in the near future.

I think the big issue people have with the choppa arm is that the choppa looks like a fantasy style stone axe rather than a metal axe that would fit into 40k

It was KT, Armageddon book mini wave, launch box, post-launch wave. The latter two are guaranteed as long as Orks are a launch faction, one might argue that they're really one wave since the pairing of launch box and post-launch Codex plus wave is an indivisible affair, but that'd just be semantics.

As for Kill Team, it wasn't that long ago that Chaos got Legionaries, Fellgors, Traitor Guard and Nemesis Claw in relatively quick succession, and two of them even back to back, so I don't see why an Ork team being released not so long ago impedes the release of another Ork team. For all we know they might even be part of something like Ashes of Faith, which had a lot more going on than the usual Team Vs. Team release and was something of an off-season release. Or even if they're a rumour, it might not come to fruition for a while, so any timing we may have in mind now doesn't really apply if they don't show up for a year.

And then there's the Armageddon book. We don't know for sure just yet if Orks will get releases with the book, since 11th is just around the corner. But if they're showing more Orks on Monday, on their own volition, there's an argument to be made that they're not a reveal for 11th's launch or after, since it'd be a tad weird to be showing non-leaked Orks for 11th before even announcing 11th or the box, which is probably going to be an AdeptiCon reveal. Guess they could be starting to reveal them now as a tease, but I'd say that it's more likely that it's something they'll be getting with the Armageddon book, just so both of the main factions involved get something, even if it's just a token release for Orks before the main event.

It was me, and it was just based on/summing up the rumors ( by those with a proven track record), no deduction or logic. I also didn't mean (multikit ) waves even if I used the word.. 4 independent releasedates with orks is what I mean;

2 rumormongers have put orks as having at least 1 epic hero release with the campaign ( valrak and boole )

This will be a release before 11th edition, and has a good chance of being a Monday reveal, as eye of terror just finished a Monday reveal series.

The warboss is no epic hero, but, it is possible the campaign release is not just an epic hero. ( it wouldn't suprise me if there where more ork things for the campaign, it would suprise me if something "core" like the warboss released there and not later with the codex )

3 rumormongers have put orks as a "soon" kill team release, said to be meganobz by 2 and that level of detail only surfaced closer to release in the past. The 3rd rumormonger had no details but its likely he meant next kill team set ( Aeldari vs orks or Chaos)

Warboss is not from this release, Monday reveal might. ( next KT box is likely an april/may release )

It is possible that KT and the Armageddon campaign release at the same date.. but its not very likely.

Orks in 11th edition box is also a rumor by valrak.. we might see a bit at adepticon, likely the rest in a month or two.. its usually all etb though, so the warboss wouldn't be here originally. Monday reveal won't be this.

Orks codex wave stands independent from their boxset feature, never revealed nor released at the same time but a couple of months later .. this one is less rumor and more expectation.

This one we won't see until summer, Monday preview almost definitely isnt this ( though the warboss imho has the biggest chance to be part of this )

It's not even that strange for orks by the way, orks have had this rapid fire of distinct seperate releases before; Kommandos, Beastsnaggas and the regular ork release in 9th where all around but not at the same time.

The rest is my speculation, and I might be repeating, im not sure :

Orks getting a second kill team this edition isn't suprising/unlikely,  IG got two after each other, SoB and Tau have gotten 2 this edition as well.

What does suprise me is the rumor says meganobz ( but I see no reason to doubt them )

-- for starters among the many likely and varied ork kill team possibilities, meganobz fall fairly close to wreckaboyz just bigger and even more elite. ( freebooterz, gretchin, minderz+warphead, tinboyz+mek, cybork boyz, stormboyz, beastsnagga elite beasthunter kill team, just Nobz even are all more distinct options.)

-- wich is the second issue, thats an eliteness rank I would not expect in kill team. I dont see meganobz getting smaller, and it would suprise me if they become a 5 ork kit, in both cases they come even closer to wrecka boys. But 3 operatives does not make for a good kill team. ( I know both raveners and stealthsuit kits went from 3 to 5, but they aren't quite meganobz)

To make sense of that rumor I theorise its functionally a bunch of Gretchen + Meganobz kill team.. kind of like Ratlings + Ogryns but with the focus reversed ( meganobz lead the grots ) despite a similar make up of the team.

That would make them stand apart from wreckaboyz more and solve the eliteness issue.

The meganob's ammo grots being actual models in Kill Team would certain add plenty of scope of things to add to the game.

Grots doing impromptu tweaks and adjustments on demand, reloading the big shootas since the orks can't do it themselves if armed with powerklaws/buzz saws as well as collecting the best loot and planting bosspoles about for mission actions.

I REALLY like this git! He looks far more like a proper Ork than a lot of the more recent 40K Ork releases; some of those looked weirdly off, especially in the faces. This feels like a classic Brian Nelson Ork done with more modern proportions and sculpting tech. Top marks, GW.
