Helias_Tancred
10th edition, overall, dumped on Black Templars. My Warhammer 40k world is playing with a small circle of my closest friends. I've been very unhappy with the changes we got in 10th edition starting with the points nerfs to Helbrecht, and Grimaldus. That was nothing compared to the overall amount of nerfs we received with our codex release. I've realized that given who I play 40k with, I can go back to Index Black Templars (they don't mind), at least for Righteous Crusaders detachment. After seriously comparing Index Black Templars vs. Post-Codex Black Templars yesterday, it was fairly stark. (I've been focusing on my Dark Angels lately, FYI, so I was out of the BT loop a bit) I had more fun and enjoyment from playing Index Black Templars than after our codex released. As 10th edition draws near its end, we got a raw deal in this edition. You can argue that we didn't, and the nerfs were just new interesting ways to play Black Templars, or a challenge, and I'm sympathetic to that ... but the numbers regarding tournament play is not on your side. It shows a real decline in the number of people playing Black Templars at those tournaments, and their performance fell off a cliff post-codex. Now I'm not a tournament player, nor does my enjoyment of the hobby hinge what goes on with that sub-culture of the hobby, BUT when you're making the point I am about Black Templars this edition, that tournament data comes in handy. Making this post was more about needing to get this off my chest, but I'm also interested in hearing additional BT player viewpoints too. Thanks. Medjugorje
The main problem is that we are still in Codex space marines. all special marines should have their own. In terms of Codex vs Index --> i am on your side although the new book is stronger in combination with that single one detachment which should not even be allowed for BT as a non-complied chapter. All index detachments ARE TRASH. All interesting but all very flawed in their own way.
