Concord
Hi all, glad to be here, and thanks for having me! I haven't played a game of 40K since the 90's, but I started collecting and painting again last year, with 2,000 points of battle-ready Salamanders and nearly 2,000 points of battle-ready Tyranids. I'm more of a lore fiend and model collector than a player, but I hope to get a game in sometime soon, hopefully before 10th edition is replaced. My current project is my own homebrew chapter, Iron Concord. I try to collect and paint up to 2,000 points before moving on to the next project. Not all assembled or primed, but I'm a little over that with these guys, with a little more planned. Currently working on finalizing the paint recipe on this first batch of elites, then on to the rest of the models. When I began collecting and painting in the 90s, I'd never heard of things like 'edge highlighting,' and speed paints weren't a thing, so I've practiced a lot of new tools and techniques in the last year. Still a long way to go. I'm actually retiring in a few weeks (!), so I'll have a lot more time to devote to this army. Anyway, thanks again for having me here, and greetings from the Pacific Northwest!Ordo Per Ferrum Alby the Slayer, Bouargh, BadgersinHills and 3 others 6 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/387725-greetings-from-the-pnw/ Share on other sites

Concord
Thank you all for the welcome! I’m experimenting with a sand-colored/desert theme with my first squad, but don’t have it dialed in yet. This is going to be a learn-as-you-go project. Concord
Notice how I SUCK at drilling the bolters! I botched two in a row then decided until I figure it out, I’m painting black dots. I need to find some 3D printed bolter-fire effects to cover my shame. If you are using a hand drill tool I suggest, you use first the tiniest bit and then a larger one, so you can pinpoint the center to drill more easily after. W.A.Rorie
I have been drilling bolters for years and I still mess up. I do drill side holes first now, then using a sharp exacto blade #11 "Try" to find center and drill that. One that is done I use #16 tip to expand the hole a little more. Afterwards you can put plastic cement on it to melt it into a smoother finish.
