Dudley Nightshade
That seems like a lot of webbing / body glove / whatever the flexible layer is called visible betwixt the legs. Mazer Rackham
It's a tabard/loincloth. Painting it black was not the best choice IMHO. mecanojavi99
Cool I guess, but it's really just an Assault Intercessor with some extra bling and no leg webbing, I'm more interested in the chaplain and land speeder. VanDutch
It’s too similar to the jump pack Intercessors. I get making standard marines unique is hard, but GW could have at least made the jump pack more interesting. The current vanguards have a bit of bling on theirs. lokkorex, Wolf Guard Dan, bloodhound23 and 16 others 19 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/387773-vanguard-veteran/#findComment-6164955 Share on other sites
Galron
Not too impressed. Looks exactly like an JAI with a sword. Hopefully there will be some weapon options at some point. So far the ork side is looking far more interesting. darkhorse0607, VanDutch, LightningClawLeonard and 4 others 7 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/387773-vanguard-veteran/#findComment-6164956 Share on other sites
Indy Techwisp
I hope they retain the option for TH&SS for their main kit. Otherwise they kinda are just JPAI with a tabard and slightly more decorated Armour. MoriyaSchism
Looks good. I'm happy to see the Aquila chest plate and awards featured on the shin armour. Not a huge fan of the jump Assault Intercessor poses or the extra leg thrusters, but I can work with this. The line about the "same powerful jump pack as the Assault Intercessors with Jump Packs" is amusing. Is the ugly Primaris jump pack supposed to be more powerful than other models? I think in the sense that any new car is the safest and the most powerful one they've ever made. It's marketing speak. WHC shouldn't be anyone's go to for Lore. Lord Marshal
It has those flappy bits above the vents, that's how you know it's more powerful. They have four "modern" marks of armour (VI, VII, VIII and X) and tons of gear patterns to work with. Surely their designers could have some imagination. No Foes Remain
Gonna be honest, he doesn't look very 'veterany' to me aside from the paint job. Crux on the helmet, shoulder pad and knee with a little detail.... and that's it? The old vanguard veterans ooozed with detail, showing you that they were battleworn and honoured astartes of hundreds of battles and campaigns. This guy ooozes 'we have vanguard veterans at home' vibes. darkhorse0607
A bit plain to be honest. Lysimachus
It's not bad, by any means, but again (just like the Intercessor, really) it doesn't go as far as I would like. The old Stern/Vanguard really felt like the various honour bits were individual and personal, like a Marine had served for hundreds of years. This guy looks like he's literally just joined the 1st Co... Captain Idaho
His high heels suck. His blandness doesn't look like a veteran at all which sucks. LittlePlasticHomies
Small haggle but I’m having trouble mapping “gold being veterancy” across the Blood Angels. Sternguard had red pauldrons and now both vanguard and bladeguard have gold. I’d prefer standardization across the BA veteran scheme. Sergeant Centurion
I feel this marines reveals really bland, i barely see that concept of put older mark armours parts on them to keep the fight. So i made the most cheap photoshop edit of what i was expecting instead when the romours comes months ago. While the core box is likely gonna be pushfit as usual there's probably going to be more options in the boxes proper. Xirix
Not nearly different enough compared to a Jump Intercessor (which I don't really care for much myself), I guess bling is scarce in the attrition war going on too. I feel that Centos minus the captain accessories should be the pattern moving forward for generic line marines. Flaherty
Subtle. Fine. I wish it had one more pass through the bling factory, but it's a nice addition. Manifesting – I wish GW would design the models with more customizable panels. There are so many cool variations of chest plates – the Raven skull for the RG, for example – and it's a shame they're only seen on rare custom units. Indy Techwisp
I feel they're not showing off the flashier, more "kitbashed" looking Marine models because these ones are what got painted first. Also they're doing them all as Blood Angels and imo the Blood Angels colour scheme makes some things harder to "pop" as it were (like this guy's Tabard). That’s my point - pauldron trim has historically been red across the line and now they’re doing gold with veterancy.
