I love that the model has an Aquila on his chest instead of the Crux Imperialis (the name given the winged skull).

I believe the winged skull is called just the Imperialis. Afaik there's no Crux Imperialis in 40k lore, its instead a real world term reffering to the Imperial Cross of the Holy Roman Empire.

But yes, more variety is good. There's been a number of primaris models released over the years sporting the Aquila rather than the Imperialis, but the more the merrier.

If you don’t mind me asking, did you buy the parts already printed or did you print them yourself? Are the STLs available to purchase form an online store somewhere? I really, really like the way the models appear and wouldn’t mind doing something similar myself.

You can get the terminator bits from Archie’s forge

I printed them, However I think all the files involved have been nuked.

Ah no worries, you never know if you don’t ask. Thanks for the reply. They really are nice models, kudos.

Thanks, I’ll check them out.

My bad, I’d heard it referred to as the Crux Imperialis before somewhere on the internet and assumed it was what it was called. I know there’s the Crux Terminatus (Terminator Honours), so assumed the person I heard the term from was right given that Crux had been used elsewhere in the lore. So now I know, and knowing is half the battle. Something else I’d like to see which was common in 2nd edition is winged gems. Tactical Marines used to have an oval gem akin to an Eldar spirit stone, and at least one of the Apothecaries from the time had a heart shaped gem, both of which had wings. As far as the split between the Imperialis and the Aquila, it seemed, from memory, it was about 50/50, just from my recollection of the middle hammer, Goodwyn Space Marine sculpts, however, I couldn’t say for certain how many of each actually existed on the old models.

They may have been referring to this variation of the Imperialis that is on some veterans’ chests:

Mixing up the amour a bit more like the recent Space Wolves would have helped I think.  The only thing that says veteran to me is the helmet.

I really don't like these perched on rocks models, it doesn't look like they are jumping. I'd rather see some braced as they land or on one foot as they take off, so much range for cool poses beyond one foot on a terrain piece that could drive home the sheer power of the jump pack. Such an unimaginative solution for not having flying stands.

Other than that it's pretty much an assault marine, not really much to comment on.

You could probably shave the scenery off his foot and replace with a flying base there.

Dis similar things with my fb assault squads. Some running some borrowed legs from the normal marines and some got flying stands drilled in multiple locations so much diversity.

A bit late to the party but let me share my thoughts as well with you.

I'm also a bit disappointed and hope that he is the blandest fella of the gang. Why did they paint the cross on the helmet also gold like the rest of the helmet... That way it just blends in. Also they put the few extra decorations where you will never see them on the tabletop? Not the best decision if you ask me. I foresee that the rest of the squad will also have no jump pack deco. Maybe the sergeant.

I really hope the rest will look more interesting than this dude. The VVs were my personal highlight of the coming box.

7 pages on one image of a model, good work team!

So far, so meh. It's ok, bit bland compared to what we're used to as BA (though not for the last decade I guess) but overall a fan of the reset - too blingy wouldn't work for other chapters, and you can always add on bits - the MPK being chock full of accessories to bling them up would be best of both worlds.

Can I just say the highlight of this whole experience is watching people complain about generic marines painted as Blood Angels rather than folks complaining about generic marines painted as Ultramarines. We finally get a break
