Also I'm starting to get the impression from here and other places that people interpreted the "mixed Armour marks" rumours as "ALL PRIMARIS ARMOUR IS GONE" for some inconceivable reason.

Manifesting – I wish GW would design the models with more customizable panels. There are so many cool variations of chest plates – the Raven skull for the RG, for example – and it's a shame they're only seen on rare custom units.

100% agree with this. It would be so easy to make alternate shins or chestplates that perfectly fit on a particular body or set of legs, and include them in the Chapter Upgrade frames.

Very surprised that I've never seen a 3rd party sculptor scan in the basic shin or front of body shapes from, say, the Intercessor kit and do Chapter specific replacements.

Mixing up the amour a bit more like the recent Space Wolves would have helped I think.  The only thing that says veteran to me is the helmet.

I really don't like these perched on rocks models, it doesn't look like they are jumping. I'd rather see some braced as they land or on one foot as they take off, so much range for cool poses beyond one foot on a terrain piece that could drive home the sheer power of the jump pack. Such an unimaginative solution for not having flying stands.

Other than that it's pretty much an assault marine, not really much to comment on.

Not great. Looks like an Assault Intercessor, and it's disappointing to see the lack of decorations on these guys. Also, a bit confused as to why they're showing off one mini from a unit.

We're only seeing 1 model of each marine unit. While the core box is likely gonna be pushfit as usual there's probably going to be more options in the boxes proper.

They made bladeguards veterans push fits minatures for the launch box and they looks rallly cool, so they can made this marines better, in my opinion.

Yeah, I've been going back to look at the Leviathan Sternguard to see if I just mismanaged my expectations

I don't think I did. Even the Leviathan push-fits had more detail to them. Pose notwithstanding, this guy is pretty barebones in terms of detail. Maybe a higher tabbard/cloth could've helped, maybe some more bling on the legs like an aquilla or something, or more pouches. This isn't even comparing it to the Vanguard of ye olden days, which way outbling this guy

This feels in line with the current sternguard being Intercessors with a tad more bling, though I would say sternguard guns added a bit to the visual difference, while the vanguard here has a pretty standard pistol and power sword.

I can work with it though; paint the gun in gold, do a flaming effect on the sword as opposed to the electricity standard, script transfers where there is space, maybe freehand some white and gold accents on the jump pack.

I understand this is just one model, and maybe other marines in the squad will be more detailed, and it’s just a push fit kit, and likely the multipart kit will have more options. But wow, this guy is virtually indistinguishable from a jump pack intercessor.

More than just the models themselves, I think I’m just sort of surprised at the real world marketing strategy. It just seems GW is leading their marketing run up with such lackluster marines. I get saving the best for last, leaving the Chaplain until the very end to build hype, ending on a strong note right before you open preorders. But it just seems maybe you’d maybe lead with something interesting in the first week or so to get people’s attention. I mean, last time they lead with terminators, this time it’s “check out these guys who are barely different from an intercessor! Cool, right?”

Honestly I despise bling on my models, and it isn't like nobody has no spare bling they can't just put on the mini to begin with.

The tabbard though is painted an odd color and the angles don't help fully. I'd want to see the rest of the Vets first.

funny how they keep unveiling marine miniatures that any veteran can easily kitbash a better version

True to an extent, but then we can also argue about whom this is marketed towards; any veteran can kitbash something more impressive, but those probably are in a minority so the intended customer of this box would be new players, with a significant portion also being hoovered up by scalpers and marine-addicts/whales.

Compared to the old kit, they certainly could have added more bling. The old kit doesn't seem drastically different to Assault Marines at a glance, but there's still enough extra gubbins to stand apart, notably on the pauldrons and the lower legs, as well as top of the jump packs.

This guy you could have told me was a kitbash out of the Primaris Assault Marines somebody did and I'd believe you.

I think it’s fine. I prefer slightly less over the top bling on my veterans, this is fairly in line with the Sternguard update tbh. Only thing I think is realistically missing is the jump pack should have had some form of bling, be it a veteran symbol or Aquila or something

pose is okay, nothing special but not bad.

weapons look as expected, happy to see vanguard and will have MC swords going forward.

i think the loin cloth should have been dark grey, that’s what art tends to show for blood angel vets and I think what was done for the Sternguard too. I like the transfers. (Incidentally this is an area that sculpted detail may have helped - blood angel veteran shoulder pad would look better than the transfer but then it’s too chapter specific)

as for it using mkx as a base… what did people really expect, we saw the same video so knew it would be the case. I personally like jump intercessors so have no issue with vanguard aligning (I banked on it and had some custom blood angel ones 3d commissioned last year)

Rather less interesing than I would have hoped; a bit plain for a first company veteran. That said, there is some room for hope. For one, he's but one of five; I remember when LEviathan was introduced, and this sternguard vet:

struck me as a bit lackluster outside of the tabard and rosary/relic, plus the sergeants pauldrons didnt even have any scrollwork, bonding studs, etc. A shame, but then the multipart ended up having a fair bit more bling than the monopose miniatures in the box set. That could end up being the case with Vanguard vets as well.

also, i might be mistaken but I believe that the gorget on this fellow doesn't tilt forward as much as previous primaris models. If i'm correct, then that is an improvement over the standard design in my opinion. I always thought the mk. x gorget shouldve been positioned at a steeper angle like Mk. 8. Hopefully this isn't a vanguard vets exclusive design element, though thats a fair possibility; the jump pack intercessors have a slightly shorter gorget but the angle is the same as the standard one, iirc.

also, while I didn't feel like going through the trouble of sawing off the leg thrusters when I built my Jump Ints, I put in the extra effort with these fellas. I dislike how they look, and veterans are the sort of unit i'm willing to put in the extra work for.

I never understood how much soul/feel models lost via GW moving to cad.

These new age pushfit models are like night and day compared to last veterans. Here´s Sternguard and then  new Vanguard. Sure we can complain and whine about other being sergeant and more bling, but... Being starter box modle shouldn´t mean Gw can just paint it gold and change shoulder pad, add some more crux terminatus icons and basically mirror pose from Jump pack intercessor sergeant.

While yes, i ain´t fan of primarinaded marines, i can still say their size is good to make marines those giants on the tabletop. But! And this is big butt, maybe later multipart Vanguard set can offer some better looks.

The helmet and chest Aquila are cool, nice to see variations from the baseline Mk X helmet with the winged skull chest emblem.

What is up with that pose though? Not a fan of how they are choosing to pose their jump pack Space Marines lately.

Grey Tide studios.

They make greaves for both Primaris and Termis, Blood Angels, Space Wolves and Salamanders.

All your Armageddon heroes...in fact...

No, no one thought that.  People thought it would legitimately be mixed armour though, not just a helmet here and there
