Nagashsnee
Many years (too many to be honest) ago GW released codex Skitarii and Adeptus Mechanicus, something i always wanted and instantly dove into. Since then that original army was sold, re bought and re sold. Back in 9th i started a new version of my Adeptus Mechanicus based on my at the time 30k colour scheme being blue and yellow. The colours selected PURELY as they were colours i had rarely worked with. Now 40k rules wise took a turn for the worse for me with 8-9th but i slowly put together a force as a hobby project. With 11 round the corner i decided to dust off (quite literally) the models and either paint those that were still unpainted or spruce up the painted ones (as i have gotten better at painting, laught all you want when you see the completed models, but i assure you they are better then what i use to produce). This blog will cover this restoration in both 40k and BFG as BFG is the best game GW ever made and i will take no questions. To start with i choose a pair of Kastelan robots and their datasmith, as they were models i had put off as being difficult to paint. I have finished the datasmith and i am at the last 10% for the Kastelans themshelves. I hope to finish the Kastelans this weekend and move onto painting a skitarii marhsal and sprucing up 10 old painted skitarii for him to lead. choose files... Nagashsnee
Managed to finish the robots yesterday, and while digging thru old boxes for the skitarii, found my version (i dislike the gw models) for the electro priests. Gave them a wash with some water and a brush down to get the dust off. Other then some snap off here and there (no idea where to find a hand), once i highlight the cloaks, clean up some messy brush strokes and add some details and spruce up the basing these guys are going to pop! Tallarn Commander
Nice progress. I'm looking forward to seeing some of your tech explorator vessels! BFG still is my favorite GW game. You had to think 2 to 3 turns ahead to conceptualize where your ships would end up. Its going to be a little while for the BFG stuff as its basically just glued at this point. Its all 3d printed and there is allot (about a dozen capital ships and twice that in escorts). I did find a fantastic skull face prow design that is across the entire fleet. Here are pics of the retribution class ark that will be the flagship. Due to 11th coming relativly soon and my desire to at least play the edition on launch when everyone is hyped and games abound i am focusing on 40k atm. I got the skitarii marshal finished (he was a new model for me) and should finish fixing up his first skitarii squad tomorrow. I realised i did not have enough of every special weapon as i dint use to run one of each in each squad when they were paid upgrades. So had to dig out some spare weapons and bodies to make some extra dudes and that set me back. Nagashsnee
Ok so here are the first 10 skitarii rangers, these were models from way back. Added highlights, re did the eye lenses and generally cleaned up some sloppy brush work. When i was putting the army together i had gotten some extra skitarii for use as secutarii with the FW kits, so had LOADS of bits left, at some point i 3d printed some skitarii bodies to use with the GW gun hands/bits and most of them ended up as rangers many of whom you see here. Next on the block, i think i will do 10 vanguard, again just normal guns and a Alpha, before heading into special weapons. This should space the work out, and i should wind up with enought of everything to field 2 units with any feasible weapons combo. MoriyaSchism
It's always great to see another AdMech project. I like the your colour scheme, you don't see blue often on Mechanicus miniatures. Keep the sacred red for the priesthood, while the forges own colours take primacy on everything else. And Even the priest hood while primary red should have hints of the forges scheme. Only servitors will be mostly black with just tiny splashes of colour, while the priesthoods more independent scets should lack any of the forges blue and yellow. Or thats how i have it in my mind haha. I haven't decided on a Forge World yet, either Lucius, Gryphonne IV or Angstrom II. Thats sounds great, allot of the early skitarii art had them no robes more armoured/borg like and it was great. I really enjoy the'' ýour dudes'' aspect of the hobby. 40k galaxy is a big place and the cannon loose enough to have a blast making your stuff truly yours. I would go Angstrom II just because of the name haha.
