Wanting to purchase an out of stock upgrade

So this is kind of me asking if anyone has something for sale.

 

For a while now, I’ve been wanting to get the Sisters of Silence Prosecutor Upgrade sprue. Unfortunately it’s marked as “online only” & “out of stock” on the official Warhammer website. I’ve been scouring the internet for this, hoping to find one for sale, but the most I’ve found are recasts, which require a lot of cleanup & just don’t look that good. Short of emailing GW or asking my store if they can order it, I wanted to see if anyone here could help me first. If anyone knows where I can get one or even knows where I can get a similar proxy thats not messy & fits well, please let me know.

I take it you've used the "notify me" option to get an e-mail when it comes back into stock?

 

Otherwise, being resin, I don't think you've got many options.  E-mailing GW won't do any harm, although I'd be surprised if you got a helpful answer with a timeframe in it.

 

P.S. Please remember that requests for trading are against the rules (although you can add "I am looking for..." to your signature).

I did use the “notify me” button months ago, but I keep checking the site & it’s still out of stock. I don’t really have much of a timeframe except that I would like it to be available when I have enough money to actually buy it. I’ve checked eBay & came out with nothing. I do have a set of recasts, but I don’t like how they look. I would love to have them & like I said, I wouldn’t mind buying some sort of proxy or 3rd party version as long as they fit the Sisters of Silence models & looked good.

 

Anyway, sorry for breaking the rules, I promise not to do it again.

I think it's a bit of a case of "luck of the draw" with the "notify me" button - I'm guessing GW keeps track of how many people have clicked, which may influence when they schedule to cast more of that model, but it can be months (I've been waiting on something for six months before), which really isn't a great experience as a customer.

So a few months ago I posted a topic where I wanted to ask where about acquiring an upgrade set for the Sisters of Silence that is never in stock.

 

Well, I’m here today because I’ve learned something that makes me angry. Because it turns out the upgrade set I wanted is “out of stock”… in America.

Turns out that this “online only” product is in stock… but ONLY in the UK!

Not only that, but SEVERAL Sisters of Silence products that are “out of stock” in the US are “in stock” in the UK & I’m willing to bet that MANY MORE sets that are labeled “out of stock” are also only available in the UK!

Granted, I know that GW is a UK based company, but it still vexes me that a product which can only be ordered online is not available to US customers! At this point, it seems like my only option is to have someone in the UK buy the set & ship it to me! This really sucks!

 

Maybe I’m just raging, but with the number of companies adopting so many anti-consumer policies, it really ticks me off! Anyway, thank you for reading my rant & as always, God bless.

GW doesn't ship individual orders to the USA anymore- they have a distribution warehouse in TN that gets large shipments that are then sent out to individual buyers when ordered online. Unfortunately that means that those of us in the USA can only order what is in stock in the TN warehouse, which isn't the same as what they have in the UK where their production facilities are. SoS are a pretty small portion of the player base, so restocks from the UK are going to be few and far between compared to more popular factions' kits. 

 

A lot of this is to streamline their logistics process- it is cheaper to use water-based freight shipping than air freight and ships are slower than airplanes. So, they aren't able to be as quick in shipping out replacement products using ships as they would using planes. This means that every time something that is less purchased goes out of stock in the TN warehouse they are probably running months behind on replacing it because they won't have any replacements in the pipeline already.

 

It does suck, but really the best option is to get someone in the UK to ship to you. You may still get hit with tariff fees though.

I figured as much, but where would I even go to ask for such assistance? I know here on B&C we’re not supposed to beg or ask for products, but this is the only place where I talk about WH40K & I don’t have any relatives who live in the UK so I guess I’m fresh out of luck…

 

Oh well, thank you for explaining this to me at least.
