For someone starting out with Orks (I only have the 9th edition CP with the copters and dread) and not yet having the codex is there an advantage to the old 11 figure kit?  I’m not a big fan of having lots of separate weapons to faff around with so atm having a gang of boyz with the same weapons appeals.

The main benefit would be the ball jointed torsos and necks which allow for absolute posing freedom (though not all poses will look entirely plausible) and a lot of leftover bits once you are done assembling.

Unlike the new one however they will be either melee loadout or ranged loadout modeling-wise, but since the new profile just has them with both you won't even need to glue on extras.

The new kit will have the main benefit of quality and detail density that comes with a modern sprue. Potential downside is the seeming lack of heavy/special weapons though that might be a Termagant situation where it will be added once released standalone. From what the internet dissected so far it does seem to be very modular on the part exchange front.Screenshot_20260505_125256_Reddit.thumb.jpg.68b0544d45b76b7e31a0ce503e6ae6cc.jpg

We won't know for sure until we see the new Ork Codex which will probably drop in September or October Orktober. Traditionally, Boyz have benefitted from having a couple of Rokkit Launchas per mob to help kill elite infantry or provide some backup anti-tank shooting.

Thanks guys.  I’ve seen a YT video where a guy blends a Loota/Burna kit with the old boyz which (with some commandos) brings my CP to 1000 points.

Are Lootaz and Burna boyz still and are going to be a thing?  My 5 man squad of Infernus marines are devastating against Termagents et al.

The lack of detail density is also a plus for me, I prefer the early look of WH with its broad strokes.

Honestly we don't know. Lootas/ burnas are as orky as boyz but all we know is the kit is currently not being sold online.

I hope for a new kit rather than "legendsing" but currently we don't know.

Ah, I didn’t realise they are currently discontinued.  Thanks.

No worries.

Having just looked again at the GW Canada and UK webstores, they're now not even showing.

As such they'll be redone or gone.

However, if you love the kit, if lootas do go you could run them as tankbustas instead.

This is mad, I'm looking forward to the ork models in this way more than the marines, just wondering how I can improve my bad moons scheme, yellow over leadbelcher is a pain.

Why not paint yellow on first and then go with dark, well covering metallics?

I tend to sponges them. I do

1) metallic base

2) Seraphin sepia

3) reikland flesh shade

4) agrax

I then sponge colour on top. So for yellow I'd sponge averland sunset then another brighter yellow. Then a smidge of brown/ silver for weathering/ damage. Just bits of torn kitchen sponge too, nothing fancy.

Seems like rokkits will be s10 across the board now if this and the Kombi rokkit are anything to go by.

Hopefully this means that melta weapons will also get a strength boost as they're largely wounding on 5s vs vehicles which for dedicated AT is poor.

Rig looks decent. Dread mob with lethals and bigger shells for bigger gitz means it's reasonable AT too.

As always points depending but at least there's a vehicle mek boss. (Slight shame there's no plastic meka dread).

I'm wondering what Core: Support does?

Presumably/ hopefully the wartrakk is few points. It'll be used because it looks great. However, they never were that tough or great shooting platforms.

I assume core:support is what allows units to attach to other units? So say, the space marine ATV would have this as well

That makes sense. I'd missed reading that on the datasheet.

Attaching to warbikes will be nice.

Based on some of the previous videos, Support is probably the ability for secondary characters or other models to attach to units. If I remember correctly, units can have one support model and one leader model attach generally. Presumably support will attach to things like the Wartrakk (maybe the Space Marine ATV also?), and to secondary characters like Painboys and Apothecaries.

Edit: looks like I’m late to the party.

That makes sense though and presumably means you could run warbikes with both a trakk and deffkilla wartrike. Although the footprint for the unit could get quite chunky at that point.

As an aside it means I need to get my RT wartrakk painted up. It'll drown in its own base but will go well with the already done old school bikes.

Further aside, wonder if we'll see skorchas return as part of the wider release/ multi part. Presumably not but would be nice to see.
