Blood Angels: Wrath of the Doomed

The Blood Angels are still pretty angry about the death of their Primarch, and one of their three new detachments focuses on the Death Company.

D3+1 mortal wounds are going to kill one or two Death Company Space Marines, so it’s better to use this on a larger squad, but being able to crash home with the rest of your squad can tilt a battle in your favour.

You can even get angry on your opponent’s turn with Instinctive Interception.

The Heroic Intervention stratagem has been updated for the new edition, with a second level added at the cost of an additional CP.

So, with Instinctive Interception, you can Leap to Defend for free or charge Into the Fray for just a single CP.

You can even get closer to your enemies in their Shooting phase. After your unit has been shot at, it can make a surge move towards whoever it was that was foolish enough to shoot at you.

A surge move is a normal move where you must try to finish engaged with the closest enemy unit. That means you can get your vengeance in early.

I'm not a fan personally... d3+1 mortal wounds to be able to advance and charge is a pretty awful trade most of the time IMO.

watching the full video there is also

Legacy of grace - which is for infantry characters and units - gives +1 advance and charge, cant be used with other "grace" detachments

- blood boil enhancement for psyker, makes their attacks anti everything that isn't a monster or vehicle 5+.

- has a strat to give 5+ invulnerable as a reaction to being shot 1CP

Encarmine Speartip - specifically boosts sanguinary guard to allow them to fallback and shoot and charge

- has a strat "blurs of vengeance" that gives them stealth as a reaction for 1 CP

- shadow of abomination enhancement that gives a jump infantry character +1 damage once per game for the fight phase.

Interesting note here, none of the above modifies to wound or strength in any way. I am more and more convinced we'll go back to red thirst being our army rule tbh.

The real question is how many DPs the current 10th edition detachments are. If they are 2 DP then that is great. At 1000 points, we can still play our proper Detachments and at 1001-2000 points, we can take LAG and add a bit of flavour for DC or SG.

However if LAG is 3DPs then it is very different. At 1000 points, we won't be able to field "proper" Blood Angels at all. Even in larger games, we will need all 3 points for LAG, meaning that the new add-on Detachments won't get a look-in.

Slightly disappointing in that it seems only Codex and recent Detachments will be rolling over into 11th. The Grotmas Detachments look like they are either getting reworked or abandoned which is a shame. We will keep LAG but it looks like we will be bidding farewell to AI and RCO, both of which are very good and flavourful.

Based on comments on instagram it sounds like the codex ones are 2 pointers, which makes these ones seem... very underwhelming as two of these doesnt come close to the LAG.

I think we'll see a total rework and be one of the first to get a new codex in 11th anyway so id expect LAG to go regardless. Which sucks, but im hoping we go back to red thirst as army rule

How on Terra is this fair? Daemons get Advance and Charge as well as Assault on their ranged attacks. While Death Company get Advance and Charge in exchange for suffering a bunch of Mortal Wounds. I know that new editions always start a bit unbalanced but this is poor even by normal standards. :wallbash:
