Orange Knight
I'm building 10 Hastari Fusiliers today. I'm confused about the wargear and how the model appears. The Apha is apparently equipped with a main weapon, as well as a power sword. The model does a very bad job at actually showing this, AND we know that wargear points will be returning in some capacity in the next edition, and there could be other changes to units as well. To me it looks as though the model should have one or the other, not both - you basically have a gun arm, or a hand holding a sword. Now I'm worried that the Alpha won't be able to take a main weapon at all when the next codex drops.... Anyways... I'm building the Alphas with the guns. Fingers crossed I don't get punished in 11th... Bouargh
I am facing the same dilemna within the same propotions. My idea is therefore to procrastinate until any update is released with 11th. What I do not have clear is how gear can come back being paid for without requiring a rerelease of datasheets. Unless it is only through a revised (and long heavy) munitorum's style point list? Now that I wrote it it looks like it is the most obvious. Anyway, I will refrain from making the assembly until July/August. I've stopped by the "priming" step atm. As I do my AdMechies by prepainted sub assemblies, I may eventually prepare all that can be done: legs, torsos, back packs and weapons; but final glueing will have to wait, at least for the components of the alphas. Now I'm worried that the Alpha won't be able to take a main weapon at all when the next codex drops.... I honestly think this is mostly down to their observation that a single melee guy in a unit of ranged blasters is just not going to be ever worth the tradeoff of leaving the main gun behind. It's certainly weird that it's modeled either/or, but I think that's probably down to some confusion about they would end up being 'reinforceable' to a 10-man or not. I think the rules writers made the right choice, but I wouldn't obsess over how to model it 'correctly' as I do not expect that the presence or absence of a single power weapon or main gun is going to be one of those things that change the unit costs... That's implied/assumed to be more around whole-unit differences, like maybe the fusilier and caster units could be different points, but the Alpha loadout won't also change the cost. I think it's going to apply mostly to some of the older 'mix and match' unit loadouts like Devastators / Havocs / Dominions where they make it a bit more expensive to take niche choices to try and encourage slightly less min/maxxing. Adding 10-20 points to Havocs if they take only lascannons or whatever seems reasonable compared to the classic '1 of everything' loadouts that tend to be slightly worse vs big stuff but definitely better into smalls. All that's to say that I'd recommend building it however you think it looks coolest. It's always better to just have the model looking how you want it than to chase the rules around it. Cheers, The Good Doctor. Orange Knight
I've decided just to get them built with everyone holding a cannon. I also somehow screwed up the construction on a few models, I found the instructions for this kit to be oddly unclear, and because it's an entirely new kit with a real lack of online images to use for reference, I ended up missing out some of the cabbles connected from the gun to the backpack on 4 models. Even 30 years into the hobby you can end up with poorly constructed models lol Dr. Clock, Trokair and Magos Takatus 3 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/387988-building-some-hastari/#findComment-6173027 Share on other sites

As I tend to make assemblies like a boar running through fences, it is the type of crap I might commit. Edit: I just typed "on the plus side" twice in the same sentence. This heatwave is ruining me.
