WBRBloom
So, I have now finished my CSM Black Legion army, and started a new project, an army that I found fascinating since the early days that I've discovered the hobby: Genestealers and their Cults! One of the first models I've painted is a GSC limo, or a 'Genetic Cult Limo', from Wargame Exclusive miniatures, which is basically a nod to the original Coven Cult Limousine from the early 90s GSC, from White Dwarf 124. The model itself is amazing: detailed but not unnecessarily, pretty intuitive (you can understand what is what and the intention of the sculptor was), and has some really lovely details on it (like space for adding heraldry on the side doors, which I did in the colours of the Four-Armed Emperor Cult). It comes in 6 pieces, 3 for the car itself (the two halves of the car and the front fender/bull-bar) and then 4 extra parts for the bottom where you can make the car either a hover-car (leave the parts out) or glue them on to make it a tracked car (which I did in this case). The two wings at the end are in the same colours of my purestrain genestealers (which are Space Hulk era ones - more pictures in the next posts). I am really happy of how this model came out. I know that there are no rules for it (yet) but I loved every moment of painting it. WBRBloom
The second completed, albeit test, miniature, is a product of labour and love. I had previously bought a box of Delaque gangers for Necromunda which, although I loved the aesthetics, knew that I would never play. Having also bought the Combat Patrol box for GSC, and having built the majority of the troops from there, I decided to do a little bit of experimentation of my own, and create something of an 'elite' bodyguard force for either the Magus of the Primus. It is known that GSC assimilate everything, and it wouldn't be out of place to have assimilated a Delaque gang to serve as an elite detachment. Again, amazingly fun project and model to work on. The GSC parts that replaced the Delaque ones fitted almost with no issues, maybe a couple of sprue goo here and there. Now, 9 more to go! Rogue
Very cool. Always enjoy a classic genestealer colour scheme. DaBoiKyknos
I am really looking forward to see more of this! This looks quite promising already. I never thought about using Delaque as Genestealer cultists, but it makes a lot of sense to me now, because both of them operate for the most part in the shadows. The cult limo looks very cool, too, I have never seen that thing from Wargame Exclusive painted before. It looks really good, but the hybrid with the Delaque body really caught my attention. Are you planning to use any other third party models for this project aswell? I look at the bitz and third party Sites quite often and if you are open for it, I could suggest some things I think might fit. Respectfully of course, I am sure you have cool ideas yourself already. Firedrake Cordova
Love the limo, and the licence plate Easter egg. I remember the original, so it's a bit of a nostalgia hit ... I like the Delaque-based conversion - seems like a fitting base. WBRBloom
Thank you @Rogue and @Firedrake Cordova! Much appreciated! Thanks @DaBoiKyknos Of course, any suggestions are more than welcome! I believe that GSC as an army have an amazing potential for conversions, since, as their DNA is tainted it produces all things twisted and bizarre. One of my favourite artworks, from the recent ones, is the one showing the GSC army toppling an imperial outpost/city, with hybrids carrying insect-looking babies in their arms and whatnot. Anything that can add to this strange, uncanny, alien feeling, are more than welcome! I did had a look at a few third party stuff, but did not find a lot of things, so any help is welcome! What I am really looking to find, is GSC icons (or something similar that looks or can pass like these), like the one on the belt of the delaque/hybrid. I hate cutting them off of weapons, as I would like to use them as intended but, unfortunately, I cannot find anyone, not even 3rd party, that makes/sells these.
