Blissful Brushes
Howdy hombres/hombrettes (I’m fluent in Spanishish), As I’m sure we’ve all do every time we open that backlog cupboard we all wince a little at what could have been, should have been and may never be. Now I am settled into my new house with a hobby room/office (my hobby room in which I have the misfortune to work), I’ve got all the bits and bobs that have been in my parents’ loft for the last decade and have had a bit of a stock check and it’s bad, not terrible but definitely not good. The goal for the remainder of 2026 is to get this backlog cut down significantly so I don’t feel guilty if I buy more shiny stuff or get into the 3d printing side… 1k World Eater list: Lord on Juggernaut [Built] 10 Berserkers [Built] 10 Berserkers [Built] 10 Jackhals [Built] 1 Maulerfiend [Painting] 1 Land Raider [Painting] Khârn (Unowned) Tyranids, ~1500 Points: 1 Winged Tyrant [Built] 1 Parasite of Mortrex 10 Genestealers 10 Hormagaunts 10 Termagants (Flesh Borer) 10 Termagants (Combat Patrol) Space Hulk Genestealers [Buillt] Space Hulk Brood Lord [Built] 1 Hive Tyrant (Metal) 1 Broodlord (Metal) 1 Zoanthrope (Metal) 3 Venomthrope Genestealer Cults ~500 Points Magos [Built] 5 x Metamorphs [Built] 1 x Rockgrinder [Built][Painting] 30 x Acolyte Hybrids [Partially Built] Imperial Guard ~500 Points 1 x Vostroyran Heavy Bolter [Built] [Painting] 1 x Stormlord [Built] 1 x Baneblade [Built] 2 x Vostroyan Sniper [Unbuilt] 2 x Vostroyan Command Squad [1 Owned, 1 on Order] 3 x Vostroyan Squad [1 Owned, 2 on Order] 3 x Vostroyran Lascannon [On Order] Luna Wolves - Primaris/HH 1 x Spartan [Built] [Painted] 1 x Command Squad [Built] [Painting] 50 x Marines [25 Built & Painting][25 unbuilt] 1 x Drop Pod [Built] [Painting] 1 x Sicaran Venator [Built] [Painting] 5 x Terminator [Built] [Painting] 2 x Contemptor [1 Complete] [1 Built & Painting] 2 x Predator [1 Built & Painting] [1 Unbuilt] 1 x Vindicator [Unbuilt, just found it] Orks 3 x Deffkopta [Built] 1 x Killakan [Built] 1 x Boss on Trike [Built] 1 x Buggy thing [Built] Misc 1 x Warhound [In bits :(] 1 x Cerastus [Built] [Painting] 1 x Pirhana [Built] 1 x Lizardman Spearhead 1 x Skaven Spearhead 1 x Stormcast Spearhead Ok, so it turns out it is actually pretty awful. My goal for the rest of the year is to put a bit of a dent in this. I have managed to complete a Votann combat patrol so I haven’t been totally idle. Priorities: 1) World Eaters, as of 10th Ed that list is a clean 1k so completing that will at least let me play small games. 2) Lizardmen Spearhead (Heresy here I know) but it’ll open another game mode to me. 3) Luna Wolves, I’ve got about 25 marines half done, the drop pod is half done as is the Sicaran so if I can just finish what I started to paint I’ll probably have a reasonable force and as they’re primaris I can probably play them in both settings if I want. The Vostroyans will arrive sometime in the next 4 months and I think I know I’m kidding myself if I want to do the warhound at the moment- I have a newborn so picking up a brush or sprue for a normal dude is a lot more viable lol. Blissful Brushes
I have made a bit of progress this weekend, I’ve got a couple of layers of paint on the Land Raider. This’ll probably be the final layer of red and the two blank panels will be blue as an ode to the HH World Eaters. Hopefully some washes and weathering will make the red look a little bit less stark. I’ve converted the side Lascanonns to look a bit Chaosy so it’s not just a totally vanilla LR and I might add a few trophies when it’s done depending on how it looks. For now though I’m kind of sponging on the layers in different thicknesses to try and get across the idea that it might have looked nice and shiny when it was originally repainted red but those days are long past and it’s whoever happens to have been near the red paint when Khârn walked past who touched it up. The long term idea is to have a legiony half of the army and a chaosy half - in the 1k that means Khârn, berserkers and LR vs Juggernaught, Jackhals, Maulerfiend. When I expand the list to 2k that’ll be a predator and terminator squad and I’m thinking of about 700 points or so of daemons for thematic purposes. A bit of progress in mr Land Raider this week, I’ve got both sides to roughly the same state. I also realised I have no World Eaters decals except these old chaos ones from probably 05 or so and I don’t have a year to try and make a perfect circle for freehanding. I just have some streaks to do on the rivets and maybe some light grey/rust then I’m happy to call the red and blue done. I’ve used the texture paste from my bases on here but like a genius I’ve remembered that I paint the paste a darker brown so I’m not sure if the best option is to manually paint these or dust it with an airbrush and hope for the best. Either way I’m hoping to finish it up next week and crack on a bit with the knight as I saw a good YT short for the skeleton and I’m feeling Knighty Hope y’all aren’t melting as badly as I am! kabaakaba
Looks great so far. Blue looks so deep in contrast with red hull. Spoiler I don't like mood/dust. Could I? IMHO IMHO IMHO. Like it's need more colours/tones on it. Too bright, it's stealing attention from hull Blissful Brushes 1 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/388119-backlog-busting/#findComment-6177457 Share on other sites

I wasn’t particularly happy with it but wasn’t sure if it was worth going over it again. I have started to do that, the texture is a bit rough but I can work with it. Blob (my baby) has been playing up at night this last few days and I’ve ended up playing a decent amount of Ghost Recon: Wildlands overnight and it’s inspired me to work a bit on my Knight, with the idea that he’s a free blade who will fight for whoever suits him at the time. Faithful in his own way but would commit war crimes for the right price. I’m kind of going for the tattooed look, think cartel/military, so the religious, death, fatalism kind of themes with a few verse references thrown in. So far I’ve made fair progress on the chest with Santa Muerte and an Imperial Eagle. There was going to be SM’s scythe in the background but I’m not a fan of the composition so I might just leave it red. the Chainsword arm is a bit more biblical at the moment and would probably get the guy a one way ticket to the warp if an Inquisitor knew what they were looking at, but we’ve got a heart of thorns - often goes with Santa Muerte tattoos, and some common verses that you’ll see on dudes who are in the forces. We’ve got the worst hand in poker 2/7 (common in SF circles) and the outline of Mary on the left shoulder, this might get replaced with a more stylised angel figure as I’m not sure if I can get it looking any good right now, and there will be a devil on the other. kabaakaba
Idk, good basing/weathering change miniature to good. I think it's always the best to change the thing you don't like. Nice freehands. I think it’s Vallejo model air USAF light grey over a black prime. If you’re asking about the white tank in the background it’s just white lol. A bit more work on the knight, the first 3 lines of text need a lot of love except the R which is ok. We’ve got the Madonna on one shoulder but that might get replaced with an angel because I’m not totally happy. I was also dumb enough to do 2 right shoulders so I need to debate whether I dislike the Madonna enough to redo it rather than rework it and keep the reaper, or redo the reaper on the reverse. The back carapace is going to be half/half angel and devil I think. The red panels are getting closer to being complete though. Managed to get a bit of work ok the Land Raider too, getting rid of the mud i think it looks a bit better now too Edited Saturday at 07:11 PM by Blissful Brushes kabaakaba, W.A.Rorie, Operative23 and 1 other 3 1 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/388119-backlog-busting/#findComment-6178555 Share on other sites
