It's a concern. I guess we'll see when the whole codex drops. I genuinely hope it's not a pattern though as 9th was terrible because of it. I don't want to turn up and people groan because I've brought orks.

I like the fact that things like kans have profile options which negates the issue of building what's in the box. With only one of each weapon in the box that issue is now gone.

Dual krumpaz are an option but doesn't have rules from what I can see.

You can stick a million ammo runts next to mobs but they're a once per game thing.

Paired Krumpas are reroll hit and wound rolls on the Nobz datasheet

Stompa looks nasty. M10, advance, shoot and charge all the time (with free advance reroll). Megachoppa with constant 7, S25, AP-4, D10 attack AND cleave 4 (35 attacks into guard blob).

:jawdrop:

Back the drawing board when it comes to figuring out how to deal with these monstrosities. I wonder if they will cost more to field.

Don't worry, it's the Ork codex. It'll be amazing for two weeks and then emergency nerfed into the dirt for another edition.

How many Guardsman?

I'll be honest, the whole lot looks brutal so far.

I concur with lord marshall. It all looks brutal so points hikes incoming and rules rewrites.

Edit: forget it, I don't know how cleave works. It is per weapon, not attack

The profile says 6 attacks and S 24 - where are you getting the + 1 A and S from?  Not sure if this was a mistake or there is some piece of the new rules that I'm not considering.

And while not 35, that's still 26 attacks into a 20 man guard squad with attached command squad... nothing to shake a stick at (though, definitely something to shake a megachoppa at ).

I find a number of design decisions interesting, particularly making Damaged a keyword (which we'll have to see exactly what that means, but probably -1 hit and perhaps an OC debuff) and replacing a sweep profile with the CLEAVE keyword.

Are there any other(non-titan) profiles that have D10 or higher?  Certainly none come to mind.

Finally, with the removal of the sweep and the collapse of the deffcannon and supa rokkits into one profile, this is one of the few datasheets that we've seen that has actually gotten (all be it marginally) less complex in the new codex.

Stompa on strike always had damage 10, that's not new.

Not to be pedantic but into a 20 man blob it'd be 6+(4x4)= 23 I believe?

The plus 1 attack and strength is what waaagh currently gives but that's gone for 11th and presumably where the thinking was at.

Your pedantacism is correct (though your math isn't - 6+4x4=22 ), but missed the command squad (+5 models) I hid in its midst... hence my 26.

Just went over the old stompa vs new stompa with an ork playing friend (who incidentally has 2 built and painted stompas, including a scratch build), and the new one is largely similar but a definite improvement.  That said, we'll have to see if that improvement attracts a point hike and whether the overall package of datasheet and points is a gain or a loss for the orks.

Lol, thank you. I didn't realise command squads could join regular guard squads.

Despite writing essentially 16+6 I in fact answered 16+7 lol. Oops!

I've run double stompas when 800 each. I'd merrily do it again at 800 with this new profile

So you're the one.

I see your game.

I'll be honest, I was exhausted from work and just wanted something easy to pilot with fewer models. It was fun to see the look on people's faces too when two were on the table lol

What did the rest of your arny look like? Oh and did you win?

Snikrot, 2x meks, weirdboy, 2x10 grots and 5 stormboyz.

Essentially the stompas were there to kill stuff and everyone else for objectives or actions/ secondaries.

I won 2/3 games. The game I lost was against death guard. I'd never played them before and had no idea about things like morty's reactionary movement. My first stompa was run into by some lord with dev wounds, 4 or 5 wound rolls came up as 6s so the stompa was crippled and finished off quicker than hoped.

However, the list was mainly for the fun of it and worked well. I could have played better but I enjoyed myself.

I wouldn't mind the same treatment for most armies, I know T'au and mechanicus don't feel as elite as they would for exemple. It might be a weird edition but it's cool that they don't mind changing the stats as wildly as the ork previews we got

What is this, power creep+

Subscribe now:ermm::tongue:

It's not power creep as its the first codex, this is like a generational step up between 10th and 11th (in theory, the s/t5 marines would seal it) which just means it's a giant F you to everyone else in the interim.

Prices for next week's Ork pre-orders. The change to softback came with a price drop at least.

Ooooooft £52 core transport. Looks to be pricey to be late to the ork party.

Edit: important newsflash, price hike in September confirmed on the trade portal.
