Also curious to see if the big giant Warhammer 40k logo on the box will placate the people yelling about these models being restricted to 30k

Makes sense for the custodes stuff to be the same in 40k and 30k but I do think everything else should stay in legends or Heresy only.

Like the adratjicbweapon on the Telemon, I feel the resin Telemon body is better though, the decorative tassels and shoulders swirls on the plastic are a bit overdone by comparison.  Is nice though.

Pallas is solid, Gyrfalcon bikes really nice.

Stupid Pallas Grav-Attack.

I always wanted one, but it wasn't very good and really expensive resin for what it was...

Now I'll be able to afford it! This ruins everything!

(Maybe there's hope for the Sagittarius?)

So, when the 40k Codex drops. Will these be legends?

Them being both heresy and 40k models on the box suggests the opposite - it seems much likely they will be in the codex rather than just a pdf. Indeed you might want to look at page 2 and 4 of the 11th edition custodes launch PDF - the telemon and the (likely to be made into plastic) aquilon terminators are mentioned by name in strats!

Essentially they've figured out the way to sell Custodes as a 40k army is to just make the 30k army be the 40k army, with the added benefit of 40k players paying 30k prices for the army.

So are we expecting the current 40k range to be phased out/replaced with the 30k stuff? Im not up to date with the 40k side of the Custodes, but its looking like it will be one range for both systems.

Probably, seeing as for most of the army a  brand new 30k kit just got released, but te stuff with no equivalent will probably stay.

Considering the last "40k style" Custodes model got memed on for looking like a Squat, I presume when the Custodes 11th Ed codes rolls around they'll drop a new HH Custodes thing to go with it (maybe another Shield Captain with a different loadout?).

When the codex is released, we will probably see a change in the way Custodian Guard are used.

I'm guessing that the mix and match units will no longer be a thing, as the models are sold either as spears or as sword/shield.

Also, I haven't seen anything about a resculpt of the Wardens, who will look out of place.

40k and HH. I really hope this means the beginning of the end for the weird specialist games-main studio relationship. We did just see a whole new range of Warriors of Chaos to compete with Chaos Warriors though  so this is probably not going to be a consistent thing. I just hope we see more crossover ranges like this with Daemons, and more 40K rules support for units like contemptors.

I really hope they keep the previous infantry models available so people can just choose which type they want.  I’ve had time to get used to the new ones now and I really still don’t like them.

I’m actually worried it’ll go the other way and 30K players will have to pay 40k prices :(

In terms of the release it’s a good one, they’re all great units and models. I would’ve preferred Aquilon Terminators over the dread but hopefully they’ll be next!

This is my biggest question with all of this. The new HH Custodes dont match the 40k Custodes aesthetic (not to mention the fact that they're taller) with the detailing, so I am hesitant to buy anything for either range right now. I dont have many Custodes anyway, just a few, but

I dont want to buy nustodes for 40k, given that they dont match the 40k terminators, bikes, etc. (I.e, nustodes dont have any filigree/detail on their legs, spears and helmets are different, etc)  and at the same time, there's no answer of which direction 40k Custodes releases are going to go design wise

At the same time, I am kind of hesitant to buy anything 40k Custodes, because if they do merge the lines, I cant see them keeping the old Custodes kit (which is arguably better value anyway), or the terminators or whatever so things are going to match there either

I know some folks don't care about matching or stuff like that, and this is definitely a me problem, but that's where I have been at

That all being said I have wanted a Telemon for years now, so I'll probably fold for that

Apparently they're 100% useable for 40K and will be getting fully supported, according to the stream.

And that statement is true today, legends is also deemed "fully supported".

I still want to see them say "these are 40k minis as well and we pledge they will be in the codex going forward".

They have the Warhammer 40,000 logo on the box. That seems like a solid sign that they are 40k minis.

Yes, as I say they have Imperial Armour rules now, as per the current codex. We know GW remove or legends units etc. at codex release. I want them to address this ahead of time to build customer confidence rather than leaving a door open for a bait and switch.

I dont they will, as they've gone out of their way to make one of the new Detachments feature the new Telemon Dreadnought. While the Terminator Detachment features the 30k Terminators by name.

I know online Detachments don't mean much, but I feel that they (and the units released) will stick around for the foreseeable future as the Custodes right now suffer heavily on the new spam taxes because the list of available units is so small.

What I am concerned about is 2 units that do the same thing in the army. I love the Dawneagle Jetbikes... but I'm afraid they will be replaced by these new 30k plastic jetbikes.

Same with the stock standard Contemptor Dreadnought. Now that we have Custodes specific models, I see the bog-standard one that people used to fill out Solar Spearhead lists last year might dissappear into legends.

Partially unrelated but custodes have more detahcments/combinations than tau do interestingly.

But yeah I agree biggest risks are the units that are duplicated on both sides of the fence, then any that don't aesthetically fit the range after the fact.

I'm not so invested from a custodes perspective, but it does lay groundwork for my knights.
