I've been looking for a new 'go to' black paint since Vallejo changed their formula and having seen good reviews picked up a pot of P3's 'Thanatar black', but its absolutely abysmal, I've tried a long shake, I've put it on the vortex mixer and I've squeezed out all that was in the tube tip, but it still gives a coverage comparable to a heavy Nuln oil - Has anyone else experienced this with theses paints? is there something I'm missing?

I have had a pot of P3 do that to me where it has separated in the pot, but it was a different colour. Very unusual, Thamar Black is usually a rock solid choice, and would be my first recommendation to anyone looking for a good-coverage black. I suspect it may just be a bad mix or something. Have a go at popping the lid and getting a stick/rod down there and stirring it, if you haven't. The pigment is liquid, and sometimes likes to coagulate at the bottom of the pot/bottle if it has been sitting a long time.

Might have to add some water if it's REALLY bad.

If you're put off P3, I can recommend TTC Doom Death Black. It thins well, covers well, 17ml droppers, and comes with an agitator. The only thing I dislike is the nozzles on the bottles tend to leak a bit, and gum up the lids.
