Corswain
They look fine from what I can make out. My only problem is the trend of making Custodes models more static - the old Guard kit had a lot more movement than the updated one and it looks like the same story here. Maybe it's about their bodyguard role and trying to represent that stoic, shield of the Emperor vibe but it just makes the models that little bit less exciting to me. Nephaston
Seems fine as far as I can tell from the blurry pixels, though I prefer my terminators assembled with the peak of the shoulders at the height of the head cowling. Always vexes me how some people assemble their with the shoulder pads, which are the top-most of three pads, to be in line with the head. The lastrum stormbolter doesn't look right either. Just from this blurry view it looks like another Specialist Games Studio infantry disappointment. They also look pinched at the waist like the recent Heresy Terminator release. To any studio sculptors that may read this: "Just put the one to one resin to plastic conversion in the bag." They should keep their "original" innovations to themselves.  I think these solidify what I don't like about a lot of the new (heavy) Infantry models SGS is putting out. They have a tendency to round off and soften the design of the newer sculpts while the originals in a lot of cases are more brutalist and angular in design.  By rounding off and several other design choices they make the minis look less menacing, but also make the silhouettes harder to read/less distinct.  One can argue it helps them look more like the older Visions of Heresy artworks, but I vastly prefer the iteration from the Black Books.  Also doesn't help that with the CAD design methods a lot of the detailing on models looks stuck on instead of integrated into the design. It's clear that they took a 3d shape like the filligree and melded it with an armour piece instead of the shape being sculpted into the armour. de Selby and Petitioner's City 1 1 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/388272-new-plastic-custodes-aquilon-terminators/page/2/#findComment-6180171 Share on other sites

sarabando
so many of the details look so bad, the aquilla on the left ones chest for example, the tilt shields being overly detailed, no top knots, the groin plates being a knotted mess of cad details, the boring static poses, the needless redesign of the lightening claws, as some have said theres no soul. phandaal and Wispy 1 1 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/388272-new-plastic-custodes-aquilon-terminators/page/2/#findComment-6180178 Share on other sites

Of course it's tripping balls over the intricate detail.  You really think GW's gonna release a helmet with a random blob on the forehead like this? Or leather straps merging into each other with studs melting off?  And the more you look at it the more you see random shapes that go nowhere or deformed details. Zoatibix
Might they have changed the sculpting slightly to ease the building of the models?  I don’t think I am alone in finding the number of parts in individual models a bit much at times.  Re the picture above: I think it has been enhanced with AI. My apologies for not mentioning that when posting. kabaakaba
Idk, I like both old and hypothetical new. Good models to kill few days painting them. Except the helmets. They are very strange. Why a custodes wear sm helmets? Edited July 22 by kabaakaba Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/388272-new-plastic-custodes-aquilon-terminators/page/2/#findComment-6180183 Share on other sites
Jukkiz
these start looking like 3rd party, filligree for filligrees sake to hide any details and just plaster them with non ip specific stuff. More so of cheap copies then proper GW stuff. No Foes Remain
They look fine, but the resin ones are perfect and I'm disappointed that GW haven't 1:1 transfered them from resin to plastic like they did with nearly everything else.
