Could just be a rebox but hopefully we will be getting a new kit, fingers crossed.

I mean, they said most of the stuff in the Armageddon box was getting a multipart kit later on, so I would assume there's a multipart version of the Intercessors from there which will be the new kit

I know it won't happen because of the five models per sprue format, but I'd really like to see a heavy weapon and special weapon snuck in. if it is being redone.

To be fair it could do with a do over given all the sights and ammo clips taking up dead space.

Two sprues for the 5 and a third for special/heavy weapons. It'd be an insane missed opportunity to not add Tactical/Sarge options to a new sprue.

It seems that the Intercessor squad may finally be getting a refresh; it is currently completely absent from GW's store. Amusingly the Tactical Squad is still there...

Tactical Squad to Primaris like:

I've brought it up in discussions here and on Reddit, but an upgrade sprue with the weapons on it would also be a boon to Deathwatch. Standard Marine players get to carry on the Tactical squad legacy and get more flexibility in their infantry, and Deathwatch codifies the loadouts for their Fortis kill teams instead of having to get multiple boxes for one unit. Would be a huge win/win for both sets of players!

I would say the reveal of a new multipart kit is more likely.

I am feeling a bit of excitement towards this because GW might just surprise us with some interesting weapon options.

Even if this doesn't pan out, it would still be nice to have all the Sgt wargear in the box instead of having to source bits for him.

I'd be surprised if there isn't some new special weapon option that due to no wargear costs is basically mandatory and as such makes everybody rebuy all their Intercessors they collected through the years.

They have to create a reason for you to buy a new Intercessor box after sitting on a mountain of them already.

Same thing as what GW did for the Ork boyz by letting them have every special weapon in a squad.

Same thing they always did with tactical squads too.

it’ll either be new options or just new customisation. Hopefully both

i still personally hold out that they just combine tactical and intercessor squads

Intercessors make me think of that old pizza commercial.

"Hey Jimmy, give me a Space Marine with nothin' !"
"Nothin?"

when they first came out, the different bolter variants were interesting IMO, you could theme them to your playstyle. The grenade launchers have always been nice too because they have basically always been in addition to the regular rifle fire so you got a mini rocket launcher effectively.

when they parred the bolt rifle variants back to one you kind of got best of all worlds… but also lost the thing that made the unit sort of interesting. That said the grenade launcher got made a little better and you got to take two.

my ideal “tactical intercessors” would be the current rifle rules, with the grenade launchers and the sergeant options, but also bringing back the stalker bolt rifle with basically the bolt sniper rifle rules from eliminators as an alternative to a grenade launcher, giving the entire unit proper combat knife profiles and then maybe some kind of option for a rocket launcher.

That would then also make a pretty interesting setup in kill team too.

If the intercessors don't get new options i don't see the point to make a new kit for them.

I think that now we have plasma, flamer and melta from the support squads having one special weapon each 5 models would be neat.

But i am 100% sure that they will have just more variety with decorations and helmets and sergeant weapons and the loadout will remain the same. So just bolters with optional grenade launcher.

It may have been kind of a mess and I can see why they removed it, but I liked the different rifle variants and I thought they made a lot of sense if Intercessors are/were to exist alongside Tacticals. Small "combat squad"-type units with different rifles makes sense in many ways, both lorewise and gameplay-wise, I would say.

As it is, I don't know what to hope for. "Tactical Intercessors" with heavy and special weapon (and, ideally, a boltgun/carbine option) is probably a pipedream, but it'd be perfect for me, personally. I just want my space marines to look updated but retain the classic feel and while I can make Intercessors work well enough for me in that regard, it sure would be nice if they were like that out of the box.

I don't particularly want to see more Boltgun variants.

There are already so many spread across the different units, with their own "mildly unique" profiles.

I am expecting some new Sgt options, however. Possibly a new weapon option to replace the grenade launcher?

This is why i think following the rifleman approach would work well for them

Sergeant with nice melee

entire squad with bolt rifles, bolt pistols and actual combat knives - fairly in keeping with real world rifleman squads

grenade launcher - again pretty in keeping with rifleman squads

bolt sniper rifle - equivalent to the marksman rifles someone in a rifleman squad often has

heavy bolter or rocket launcher - technically both would make sense, i could see going a slightly different way and having heavy bolter AND rocket launcher equally

This would make for a pretty great setup for kill team, it would also make it feel like the equipment and training the modern scout unit has kind of follows through to intercessors.

I know some people would complain at "too many weapon profiles" though.
