I wonder who's buying the tacticals in 2026 so much they've still not become a web-only kit.

Completely anecdotally: since the shop opened last year in March, we've had a grand total of one customer order one Tactical Squad in that time.

I'd like to think we will see a new "combined" kit with the next Codex and attached releases. Something along the lines of what @Blindhamster suggested on the previous page would make me happy, at the very least. :)

Anyway, GW should finally reach the natural end of the Intercessor plan and release Tactical Intercessors. They've done it already with other units, so be done with it and good riddance. Let marines be marines again instead of Space Napoleonic riflemen without their options that are not missing in the basic troops of other factions (like CSM or IG) .

My guess is it is a PR thing. Someone far enough up the food chain at GW knows it would kick off a turbo firestorm if the kit goes away, because of what it would represent. So they are waiting until they have mixed and matched enough non-Mk X armor marks into the Intercessor kit, then they will make the move, however long that takes.

Another possibility is there is a refreshed Tactical Squad coming with a future Scouring or Badab expansion, but I think that is a longer shot.

If I can't buy a partial sprue or make a batch bits order of helmets, bolters and power packs I buy a full box of Devastators or Tacticals sometimes. Before Armageddon came out I bought a box of Vanguard Veterans and I got lucky on Ebay by buying a cheap Devastator sprue that was only missing the torsos and legs. I assume mostly bits re-sellers buy Tacticals directly from GW these days.

In fairness the Tac box has been on my list for a hot minute (and probably gonna get bumped up in priority now). It's an excellent source of bits.

I hope they keep it around in some form. In the same way the Horus Heresy has multiple marks of armor, 40K could have battle-hardened intercessors with mismatched armor (11th edition kit) and new recruit intercessors with fresh armor (8th edition kit) on sale at the same time. The response to the Red Corsair Raiders, and the way they were eagerly kitbashed by Space Wolf, Night Lord, and White Scars players, shows there is a market for more renegade/primal power armor. You could imagine more filigreed armor for the Ultramarine/Blood Angels/Dark Angels, more industrial aesthetics for Iron Hands, Imperial Fists, and Salamanders. Having 4/5 Intercessor variants seems totally viable.

Knowing GW, they drop in new version of kit and nuke the old one. Same with all HH armor MK. boxes

If GW just made/refreshed those old Badab characters, it would make most people happy.

The Tactical Marine kit is ugly, ill proportioned, and needs to go away anyway. The issues of the Intercessor kit lacking certain options is a whole different topic, and frankly the only problem there is GW rules designers making rules based on exactly what's in the kit. This isn't just a problem with just the Loyalist Marine kits either.
