Valkyrion
If a unit has Sustained Hits 1 and Lethal Hits then any natural 6's to hit score an additional hit and that additional hit also automatically wounds, yes? Lethal Hits + Devastating Wounds - the auto wounds from Lethal Hits do not become devastating wounds, right? Because there's no To Wound roll. Am I forced to accept the Critical Hit nature of Lethal Hits and deny myself the possibility of Devastating Wounds? Or can I just treat 6's as hits rather than critical hits? If a unit with BS4+ gains +BS and +To Hit, they stack to become 2+ to hit, yes? But if a unit found themselves with multiple sources of +1 to hit, or +1 BS, they wouldn't stack with themselves - also yes? (also vice versa with negative modifiers) Similarly, adding +1 to S and gaining +1 to wound could lead to a +2 bonus depending on the T threshold; e.g S7 vs T8 wounds on 5+, but gaining +1S and +1 to Wound would improve that to 3+. Or is there an order of events here - i.e S7 gaining +1 to wound becomes 4+, then adding +1 S become meaningless, but adding S first then gaining +1 to wound makes a big difference. Finally, can I Command reroll a positive result? For instance, in my shooting phase I have one guy with a plasma pistol left in combat and I'd like to Hazard him to death so that the enemy unit can be freely targeted. I can't see where it says you can't do this, but it seems a little rum! Thanks! You could technically take the critical as “hits” to go after devastating wounds 27 minutes ago, Valkyrion said: If a unit has Sustained Hits 1 and Lethal Hits then any natural 6's to hit score an additional hit and that additional hit also automatically wounds, yes? I believe there is a +1 /-1 max to any stats 27 minutes ago, Valkyrion said: Finally, can I Command reroll a positive result? Valkyrion
3 hours ago, W.A.Rorie said: I believe there is a +1 /-1 max to any stats Thank you for your help, and I agree, but my question was about modifying a stat AND a dice roll for the same event; Plunging fire awards +1BS (stat), gaining +1 To Hit affects the dice roll - can both apply? Each time an attack is made with a [PSYCHIC] weapon, you can ignore any or all modifiers to that attack’s BS or WS characteristic and any or all modifiers to the hit roll. Attacks made with [PSYCHIC] weapons are known as psychic attacks (this can be important for the triggering of other rules). This implies to me that BS/WS is separate from the Hit Roll, so gaining a +2/-2 is legit, but this may be Psychic only so I would like clarification from the B&C cognoscenti Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/388357-ability-stacking-clarification/#findComment-6182105 Share on other sites
kabaakaba
You can have +/-1 to ballistic AND +/-1 to roll. They work and capped separately so yeah technically it's isn't +2 it's just +1 and +1 but same result. Hate moderation on ballistic skill shorthand Edited August 8 by kabaakaba Tawnis, Valkyrion, Dr_Ruminahui and 1 other 1 3 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/388357-ability-stacking-clarification/#findComment-6182119 Share on other sites
