The six miniatures in the box can also be used to represent a variety of other Goliath leaders and champions, including Forge Despots, Unborn Docs, Forge Masters, and Goliath Bruisers – the rules for which can be found in the new Underhive Journal: Goliath – The House of Chains.

This supplement is packed with Goliath rules, background lore, and galleries of painted miniatures. It’s designed to be used alongside the Gangs of the Underhive book, and introduces two additional gang archetypes – Furnace Brutes, who are often deployed to forcefully claim territory from another house, and Unborn, which consist of those who, for whatever reason, have decided to become a Goliath artificially, with the help of a Doc.

This Underhive Journal also adds new gang-specific content for campaign play, allowing you to fight over House Goliath Territories (such as the Fight Arena), take appropriate side jobs for your skills, and draw from a whole new list of Gang Tactics (including the appropriately named Crunch Time).

Excited for another journal release so soon. Orlocks for me by my birthday October come on!

Good models here, interesting twist on gang list variants.

I suppose the variant of wannabe Goliaths who get surgery to be just like them is the reason for the female models? As otherwise Goliaths are like Escher and supposed to be gender specific and that's a "meh" change.

Goliath's have been non male locked since last edition in the fluffy. Pretty sure gang war 1 had female Goliath's mentioned

No, the last edition was firmly explaining that:

So in much the same way Escher do have males, their inclusion is a wild exception rather than just another miniature to add to the collection.

I think the difference is that Escher men (iircare slated to all be frail and deformed (with only one very notable exception who was a twin), whereas Goliaths are mostly men but there's still enough women around to justify their presence in the gang.

The Unborn were also a thing last edition via their House Of book as one of the 'how did they get here' options when you made a Goliath ganger. There's also a female prospect whose explicitly Vatborn from the same book.

Nice models, I quite like those bionics especially, but I do think the decision to put female models in the historically all-male (or at least predominantly male) faction whilst the all-female faction gets to stay No Boys Allowed is a very weird one though and doesn't really add anything of value. Either we're doing mono-sex factions or we're not; "all-female is OK, all-male isn't" just smacks of double-standards, which I hate.

Yeah I'm down for Unborn females, but the majority is a lame change to 51-49% style?

They were all brutish males vs the elegant females in the dynamic opposition of Goliaths and Escher. No longer.

Not that they look very female:

lol I'll pass even harder on some dudes dressed up as Escher gangers.

Either way, I'm out. Cawdor fanaticism is where its at anyway.

For certain, but my point was more the weird one-sided "All-male factions can't exist but all-female factions are A-OK" thing GW has going on at the moment. Personally I'd find a sudden increase in men in House Escher* as annoying as the decision to put plenty of women in House Goliath, and I'd rather they hadn't done either. But they should either make them both mixed-sex or neither; doing it to one side but not the other is dumb.

But yes, I'm not a fan either. Just seems like a very odd decision. There's 4 other main Houses for mixed-sex gangs, why can't we have one of each for mono-sex?

*Though a Poison/Bridget type Escher character would be quite amusing, albeit it would probably cause certain corners of the internet to spontaneously combust.

If you got one box of gangers, Stimmers and forge-borns, new specialists and new champions each, you would end up with 6 female models of 30 total, so 80% male without counting bikers and resin special characters, which I believe keeps the proportion as mostly male.

Checking the female sculpts, some of them (eg: the female champions) have no prominent female features other than the face and a leaner build, so a head swap might be enough to turn them into male miniatures. For the specialists, I think scraping/filing a bit the chest area and an optional chest plate would help converting them into convincing male minis.

I think at least model wise Cawdor are still all male. And of course until GW finally comes to their sense and gives us female space marines, there will be a massive over-representation of male-only factions, given how huge chunk of GW portfolio various sort of marines are.

This guy looks so cool, but weirdly isn’t in the close ups. Kinda looks like a medic style servo arm on his back.

I think this guy is one of the new specialists in the Skirmish box set?

Ahh you’re right haha. My bad.

In which case they should have made some female Cawdor models rather than trying to shove females into Goliath.

Why? What's wrong with female Goliath? They look cool. Also, this complaint is years late. The Goliath specialist box from the last edition already had female Goliath, and I'm glad we now have more, as that was just one pose.

But it is true. Any complaints about double standard come across as blatantly disingenuous as long as the absurdly over-represented main faction with all their variants, and their spiky brethren with all their variants are male-only. GW could make all other factions in all other games female only, and only then might the representation be about equal.

OK so does anyone have any actual comments about this set that aren't complaining about Lore several years after it was introduced and with models representing said lore still actively on sale from before this box was even conceived?

IMO the Sumpcrocs here look significantly better than the previous example we had which looked like it had short spine syndrome.

Keep in mind that Female Cawdor have always existed in the Lore, but Cawdor gangs are strictly monogender.

If GW were going to do Female Cawdor models, they'd need to do a female version for every existing Cawdor kit.
