Like the wing bling, but the eagle head feels a bit... I mean, it looks like it'll get in the way of the bolters half of the time?

 

Looks like you always have the sword with you, either unsheathed or not, even if you have another melee weapon.

 

I do like that you can have him either riding, with his foot on the pedal, or he's stationary when aiming with his foot on the ground.

 

Overall, his addition was long overdue, and I'm starting to have a lot ideas what other bits I could use here.

Hoo boyd they sure making them bigger and wider in 42nd millenium. Outireidrs were quite wide bikes before and now tith those wings and that cape part, it´s looking way too chonky

This is what I was thinking. Will reserve judgement for clearer pics, but if it does block their firing line that will be a big negative...

 

Edit: I think I'd have put the head on the fairing above the bolters (where the oddly flat Crux is). In fact, that way the whole fairing could have been styled as downswept wings...?

I don't like it. Not just in "fine but boring" sense, I actually think it looks bad. The rider itself is ok, but the ornamentation on the bike is just chunky and bad looking. I think that if I need a bike captain, I'll kitbash one from basic outriders.

I suspect it'll be te basis of some cool conversions. The crux seems a  little off.

Having had a bit to think about it, I have one criticism with this model:

Why can't I swap out his bike guns?

 

A Captain would be the perfect place to have that option avaliable to LSM factions but nope, still just Bolt rifles.

Ah, but the reason the head on the wheel arch, and not the fairing is because from the side it looks like an eagle swooping forward.

I hate to break it to you, but there is already one bike type with a ridiculously over-the-top eagle figurehead... and it is still the most glorious thing available.

Bud, I totally agree with you that it would look chicken-like (or even duck-like?)  if the wings stay where they currently are...

 

However, I think that if someone (with more skill than me) resculpted the whole upper fairing as per my sketch so that they swept downwards, I think it would give the bird a more  streamlined look?

Rightly or wrongly, the placement of the eagle makes me think of Judge Dredd's bike (from the Stalone film) ...

Glad people are getting more options but I will never get over the lack of clearance on those things. Especially since with the new ork bikers GWs shown they can make chunky bikes that wont scrape against every pebble

I think i figured out what´s bothering atleast me on these new bikes. 

It´s the chonk. Captain with those "assault marine" vambraces, half cape trend and thick sculpt is making already chonk bike itself look like he has been overfed or scaled. That ends up making too clunky bike with almost no ground clearance look even heavier and forced down when captain itself looks like he has eaten atleast 30years worth of corpsestarch. 

Clunky outriders bikes would look better if slimmed down atleast a lil and riders looking less "heavy"

If they had pulled that off more I might have been more interested. The comic version would have hit me even more with the nostalgia train
