Trust me when I say there's no skew really, they bounce so much and are so random that they actually DO work as good random number generators, but it's such a hassle chasing after your dice bouncing off the table, they're also bad tools. I remember watching a Youtube video a long time ago (I forget by whom unfortunately) where they tested the squig dice and proved that, despite their own expectations, they really were random. Griefbringer
Bouncy and highly random squig dice sound very characteristical - though I must admit to having missed the news when they came out. Do they also cost an arm and leg, like the real squigs sometimes do (for their handlers)? My local gaming store still seems to have in stock some Horus Heresy Solar Auxilia dice that came out two years ago. Nice looking design, with black pips on whitish marble background. The contents are 19 D6 and a single scatter dice - which leaves you a die short if you are fielding full size 20 man lasrifle section. A bit on the pricy side, but I could actually think of picking it up if they put in on discount to make some space. When I recently visited that store, they also had a rather high stack of Liber Solar Auxilia books on the shelf, so maybe the HH Solar Auxilia products are not particularly popular around here... Lathe Biosas
The new Horus Heresy: Legio Custodes Dice Set are $46.99? Is there real gold inside? According to the description: "Cast in pearlised red acrylic with gold pips". Somewhat ironically (in light of the coming Prospero Burns journal), the colour scheme actually makes me think of Thousand Sons rather than the Custodes. I would have expected the colours to be reversed for Custodes dice - gold with red pips. As for the price, it seems to roughly match that for the basic black Horus Heresy Age of Darkness dice set (black with white pips and eye of Horus in place of 6). Kilcin
I have sets for Genestealer Cults, Red Corsairs, Sylvaneth and Soulblight; I like them all, think they are a bit expensive but I'm a dice goblin that buys them at discount prices and I use them as wound counters for their respective armies while useing casino/chessex dice for actual rolling. Griefbringer
This talk about Horus Heresy dice gave me some original, though maybe not entirely practical, ideas for Traitor force dice sets. In case of the legions associated with specific deities, instead of replacing the number six with a legion symbol, replace it with the sacred number of the deity. So for example Thousand Sons could have red dice with gold pips and the number six replaced with number nine, while Death Guard dice would be off-white with sickly green pips and number six replaced with number seven. Adeptus Titanicus uses a D10 for some rolls. This would actually allow for making a special Traitor die, with the numbers 6-9 substituted with symbols for Slaanesh, Nurgle, Khorne and Tzeentch, with the Chaos Undivided symbol standing for number 10. Back to the normal 20 dice blocks, I came up with a thematically impractical Alpha Legion special set: - Metallic blue dice with marble effect and white pips - Contains 9 dice with number one replaced by the legion symbol (multi-headed hydra) - Contains 9 dice with number six replaced by the legion symbol - Contains 1 "Primarch die" with both number one and number six replaced by identical legion symbols - Contains 1 special scatter die, with the ordinary arrows substituted with the symbol of Chaos Undivided Have you ever been tasked with defending a position against Alpha Legion, wondering from which direction they will be attacking? Just roll the Alpha Legion special scatter die to find out!
