Yes. The rumor mill says they will be getting new models in 9th 10th 11th edition.

Fair enough, I thought the resident rumour monger had touched on them more recently. I haven't really kept up

Flying baby carriers?

I would have hoped new basic power armor and terminator models. Of course that'd do nothing to alleviate the concern that their list would be tiny.

Curious about chaos. Unless GW has updated models waiting in the wings(not holding my breath), I would be (a little) surprised if GW removed the rhino, predator, vindicator. This takes large chunks out of the already small army lists. Maybe in time, but perhaps these units are safe for now in the chaos legions. I see multiple people asking in the facebook post and GW has given there boiler plate "There are not plans right now..". "We have not heard anything right now"..

Considering they're just the LSM kits with a CSM upgrade sprue, I wouldn't expect them to last long once they leave LSM proper.

IF they survive this edition, they probably won't survive the next.

And I doubt GW is gonna give everyone new CSM tank kits and instead push players towards thematically unfitting Daemon Engines that end up getting nerfed into the ground and tanking Detachment usability because they're practically the sole viable option and spammed as a result (looking at you Defilers).

I imagine that new flyers are already in the making to replace the ones that are going away.

What I find interesting is that, if I'm reading this correctly, units like Tacticals and Devastators won't even get legends rules, they are being straight up removed.

About the motor pool, it was almost entirely replaced and wouldn't surprise me if GW kept the old vehicles exclusive to Chaos from now on.

Pedro going away... Yeah, that one stings, hopefully he comes back in the future with a new model.

Surprised the Firestrike Servo-turret isn't on the list.

I kept hoping against hope that the Devastator Squad would get a Primaris box... I'll give up if they don't come out with the new Codex.

That's because the Servo Turret is amazing! I took one to a free for all tank megabattle last November... and lived!

It might be a move to make the armies more different. Chaos keeps the old tech while the Loyalist get the new stuff.

I've mentioned it in other places, but GW has a fantastic opportunity to retire the old vindicator/rhino/predator/land raider kits and simply re-purpose the newer(yet older)  plastic kits they have in Horus Heresy. Take the same sprues and add in a new chaos conversion sprue. Take it a step further and add in a sprue for each god legion. OR at least a few bits. BAM! Hardly any extra effort required and motor pool cleanly updated for chaos. Furthering the divide between chaos and space marines. Chaos keeps the old-school spikey tracked stuff, Marines can have their grav tanks.

I guess that's it for old Codex compliant Space Marines. Perhaps they can find new life as Red Corsairs..

The true path is revealed to us all at some point..!

Huron did nothing wrong, Imperial Lackeys - he was just ahead of the curve!

Yarr! :pirate:

Thinking about it I'm surprised the ATV isn't on the Legends list but I suppose with new bikes and a new Bike character it makes sense to keep the Primaris "attack bike" around for a while longer.

It'll probably be replaced or legends next edition.

End of an era.

I wonder if the Chaos Predator and Vindicator will be replaced by the 30k versions with a new Chaos sprue. It would be a way to get rid of the old sprues...

Removing Pedro Kantor when the 40th anniversary of 40k is so close is a disgrace :-/

Why GW is so fixated in making Intercessors and not updated primaris Tacticals the basic SM unit? Almost all other factions get multiple options: Orks, IG, CSM, you name it. Why force basic marines to use only bolguns and grenades?  It doesn't make sense to me.

It was part of the original rumours I believe as it fueled hope of a new attack bike to replace it.

I mean there's already scouring stuff coming up. Highly likely we'll get nostalgia baited with mk7s, predators, land raiders, etc. etc.

I'm willing to bet that the Scouring will be mostly reboxes with a couple of new vehicle kits. Imagine an Old World style rebox things like old Assault Squad or some other long gone kits like the Stalker/Hunter.

The stalker / hunter has to remain Oop, it's the only way I can justify having two of each

There is no way MK7 infantry would be old reboxes, they’ll take the standard heresy infantry and assault squad model like they have down with Mk2/3/4/6 so far.  Perhaps with a specific devastator squad added in.

Well, it was inevitable but I am still a little sad/disappointed. A little surprised they took this long to do it and getting rid of the Rhino variants seems strange. They must have plans to replace them with something.

I agree, it'll be a new build/design following the HH proportions (smaller heads and hands than 40k, slightly closer to true scale and less heroic scale), and they'll almost certainly do both a tactical and assault set. It's printing money realistically.

And although I'm a bit of a broken record with this at this point, older editions do still exist where you can still use older models and a lot of the models you could still use in in late Heresy as well.

I would absolutely hate for that to happen. I hate the Horus Heresy 2.0/3.0 scale, weird Necromunda style scale with with nearly skintight helmets. It's Space Marine Heroes Series 1 but with tiny hands and heads, just looks off.

The box art will have seven fingers, so you know it's 'FRESH'.

Seems like they could have been more aggressive with the Proxy rules. Predators as gladiators, Centurions as Aggressors, etc.

32mm base is hard to be too upset with when stuff comes out at different heights, while having models that for most situations look very similar.

Centurions and Aggressors are on very different sized bases (10mm might not seem like a lot but it is), and don't even look sort of similar.

Gladiator/predator is a different silhouette and size.  Legends rules is fine enough.

In the meantime, you can just spray paint your Centurions and firstborn Marines silver and run them as Grey Knights.

(Centurions and Dreadknights are both so ugly most players can't look directly at them during a game, so you should be fine.)
