Mazer Rackham
5 hours ago, schoon said: A Spyrer game need not be all about what they do with the rigs on. There's inter-family rivalries, social challenges, missions to embarrass or implicate others in crimes, bribing the local Palanites, etc. and that just scratches the surface. Agreed. Certainly gives an opening for the 'Game of Thrones' type intrigues. Griefbringer
I still agree that there is plenty of roleplaying potential in the scheming of the uphive (Spire) fops, but it requires having players and GM with the right kind of attitude. Coming up with initial set-up and activities might also require quite some work from GM, though once things get rolling it might get easier - especially if the players are active in indicating open issues that they would like to pursue. Bounty hunting in the underhive is a lot less glamorous, but it should be pretty straightforward for a GM to get started with, and there is plenty of existing material to draw inspiration from. And there is always opportunity for scheming in the lower parts of the hive too, for those who desire it - the stakes may be different than in the Spire, but they can still bring fortune or trouble for those who take part.
