From what I've read on the web, I think the following is allowed but while I'm waiting for the 11th edition codex I'd like to ask the forum. Can I run Ultramarines and a successor chapter such as Aurora in the same army if I use the Ultramarines rules throughout? I'm assuming in friendly games at the local game store it's not a huge deal but what is the case in tournaments and such? Thanks in advance. There's a guy at my Warhammer store that runs Guilliman and his honor guard in part of his Silver Skulls army he's building. He keeps them painted separately. When anyone asks he has an obscure battle that they both participated in. There is a thing in the fluff called a Crusade force, where Chapters might only contribute a few squads and command is given to the most experienced officer. If I played Ultras, this is definitely how I'd paint them, with different squads in different schemes, but all wearing the same Crusade Badge. Chapters I'd include: Ultramarines, Genesis Chapter, Black/White Consuls, Vehicles as Aurora (as they are known for having plenty), Novamarines, Marines Errant. Lots of choices! For example, I could have a Crusade force including Ravenguard and White Scars (see: Damocles Crusade); but I could only have Kor’sarro Khan and Suboden Khan or have Aethon Shaan and Kayvaan Shrike. I couldn’t have Aethon and Kor’sarro.
