I’ve been into Warhammer for a while now, read a ton of books (Still going lol) and played almost Al the video games. Over this past year I have decided I wanted to actually get into the tabletop/physical side of the grimdark universe. With that said, I have no idea what I’m doing as far as building an army, where to begin or honestly anything of that nature. After browsing some articles here a month or so ago I thought I’d see about joining and here I am! Now, im not dull to the painting/assembly part. I have successfully built and painted 10 infernus marines, 1 primaris captain, and I oopsied 1 Victrix Honor guard model to no repair, so I have 1 Chapter Ancient and 1 Chapter Champion. Lots of heroes, lots if bikes, heavy armour... it's really open to you. If you want to discuss it here, there are tons of people who can help you focus your army into something fun and playable. With them being my 2nd favorite chapter and the easiest to having started painting between starter set and the paint/tool set. I was hoping it was Dark Angels so you could name your Librarian Illiyan Nastase, after this relic from the olden days. I’m sure that there will be one or two factions or themes that you’ll just click with. Some very poor advice from someone that hasn’t played a game for years is to forget about optimising and maxing out the data sheets etc, and lean into how you want to play and what brings you joy - if that’s waves of Ultramarines with Chainswords and Powerswords ripping into your enemies then do it! That’s what will give you the drive to build and paint.
