Hi there, back again on this forum after about a decade. In that decade Ive still been active in the hobby with lots of different proyects.

I have an instagram account that maybe some of you know: manta_man_miniature, though Im still a small fish over there.

So, I just want to chill and share everything Im working on or have worked on in the past woth you fine people.

Let me start of with my profile picture and without a doubt one of the minis I am proudest of: a Blood Angels apothecary that I painted and donated for The Apothecarion last year.

Oh and a question, because I can't quite recall how things worked here. Do i only share minis on this thread or can I add lore blurbs and stuff Ive written aswell? Admins? Thank you!

Wow, he's fantastic - so clean and crisp.

I'm a mod rather than an admin, but yes, no problem with posting lore blurbs and such with your photos - while not my own cup of tea, many other frater do so.  Some examples are here (in the spoiler) and here.

And welcome (back) to B+C - I look forward to seeing more of your work, and your reactions and comments to that of the other frater.

Thanks you al and thanks for clarifying the lore bit

I might as well share another mini I did about, 6 months ago I think.

I found the infernus sargeant at my LGS and I couldnt resist. And despite having a Blood Angels army I could not resist using the stoic pose for display Imperial Fists.

I love doing freehand since Ive always been terrible at usibg decals and let me tell you what, freehanding the Imperial Fists badge was painful

"Primarch-primogenitor, for your glory and the glory of him on Earth!"

More than the first itself I'm amazed at how perfectly round you managed to get the circle around it (honourable mention to the small heraldic shield too!)

Haha thanks, I cant tell you it was a pain to do. I mostly just did a, well chaos star, to get the rough shape abd then joinef the edges together and did some clean up, all in white. Adding the black trim to the circle, now that was worse haha

Morning ladies and gentlemen. The previous Imperial Fist was part of a proyect I wanted to do, painting every space marine chapter, a proyect that takes way too long but I still find interesting and want to do more of.

However in regards to gaming, I have about 1500pts of Blood Angels (less now after the latest legends updates ) and a slowly growing Bad Moonz WAAAGH!!.

But here, is my Astorath, Redeemer of the Lost. In a, in my opinion, more fitting black and red instead of gold and red scheme.

Despite my disapointment with GWs tratment of Blood Angels they did a banger job with this mini.

Talking about bangers, your painting is immaculate!

I agree that your scheme on Astoraph is definitely better than the box art. It really leans into the dark and brooding elements of the sculpt.

Can’t wait to see more of your stunning work.

Morning @GrandMagnus, amazing work here! As I understand it, all heraldry and markings are freehand, correct? Even the caduceus on the apothecary's shoulder pad?

Yes, friend! Everything is freehanded.

I've always been terrible doing decals, so I've been practicing freehanding since, well, forever haha my entire Blood Angels collection only has a single decal and its the chapter badge on the back of a jump pack of a captain, in an attempt on trying it out.

But I can never get it to sit right on pauldrons, so necessity forced me to learn haha

Also, Im curious about what you fellow hobbyist think:

Ive been painting Blood angels since 8th edition. But, I have the marines from the Armageddin box set and I have been writting some homebrew lore for the Taurans chapter, I like their colour scheme and since officislly they ONLY have a scheme, I thought I could expand it.

But, to you who have or dont have mpre than one chapter. What do you think? Is it worth collecting two chapters at the ssme time? Ive had other chapters in the past, but never at the same time haha space Wolves in 6th, Guardians of the Covensnt in 5th, Ultramarines in late 4th-early 5th.

As a CSM player, who only has a couple of squads of Plague Marines, Berzerkers and the likes, I can only say that it can grow arms and legs on its own, and become an army on its own way

I also have parts of firstborn marines, tanks and special characters from different chapters, which makes me want to start individual armies for each chapter, which is neither cost, nor space, effective. In fact, if I tried something like that it would send me to the poorhouse.

When you paint something constantly and you suddenly change to a different colour scheme, you might end up liking that new colour scheme and decide that a new army might worth it. It's a rabbit hole from there, at least for me.

I may not be in the majority, but I'd say focus on one chapter, marines are all marines in the end, and focusing on one chapter alone lets you achieve a few "goals" like having a full battle company for example

you can still branch out to other factions for the sake of diversity

I did, however, make a mistake with my blood angels. I was VERY anti primaris from 8th to 9th, so I made a lot of my blood angels with third party first born bits and a lot of the units were designed to be first born units.

Now with the updated intercessors and the steps GW are taking with the primaris, essentislly doibg what Ive been tryinf for years, they feel very dated.

So either a completely new BA army or a completely new homebrew, its all gonna be new either way:rolleyes: i have a razorbacj and leviathan dread that went to legends

A couple of thoughts - if you do choose to differentiate your new and old marines:

a)  You could differentiate them as being different companies; or

b)  You could differentiate them as being different time periods.

The second would allow you to paint them the same, and potentially have dual force models, while also allowing you to hive off the old models for newer stuff.

While not the most common route (outside of Heresy era stuff), there have been various projects on B+C that are rooted in a "historical" 40K session.  The most common period for this would be Badab War units, which for whatever reason seems to be the period most often used used for such "pre-modern 40k" projects - an example for that is the "Back to Badab" painting event I participated in on B+C a number of years ago.
